FWIW, Frankenstang's Capri has the column from a '90 Mustang but a steering wheel from an '87-'89 on it. It technically fits and functions - it'll fit on the splines of the shaft and steer the car - but it's a huge PITA because the older steering wheel fits too close forward and your fingers are constantly hitting the turn signal lever when you turn the wheel. I believe the '90-'93 column is an inch or two shorter to make room for the thicker/deeper airbag steering wheel on those years.
Frankenstang's reeeeeeeally wanting a Grant steering wheel to replace that '87-'89 wheel, and I reeeeeeeally want to ditch that Ford Tempo lookin' wheel in my '84. I'm thinking we can work something out...
