Modified fox fender pic request

A long time ago, I saw (I don't remember where) a series of pictures that showed how someone moved the wheel-well opening forward on a fox fender by using parts from two fenders to create one. They cut and welded pieces and it looked nice. This seemed like the perfect solution for those with MM or Griggs front suspensions, where the tires do not fit the fenders properly. Does anyone have links to this?

I don't ever recall seeing something like this....are you sure you're not thinking of the FR500? It has the wheels moved forward...

I guess anything is possible if you have the fabricating experience.

I never have seen anyone do it on a fox either, only on the FR500 concept. I was daydreaming while at work on how to do it on a fox one time, I'd get the Griggs double A-arm that you bolt to the frame rail and do some fabrication, I cant remember what I was thinking at the time but it sounded plausible, but I dont have the mad fabriaction skills to do it.

I was just thinking of having someone photo chopping the front wheels of a fox about five inches forward, but if somebody did it for real I'd like to see the pics too.

I imagine the process is the same as how they move the rear wheels forward (altered wheelbase) on nostalgia drag car/gassers. I think if you do it right, you don't need a donor fender.

Cut the wheel arch out, then cut metal out from the front of the wheel well and add metal at the rear of the wheel well then weld the arch back in.

Just cut the metal, and shave the fender molding and reinstall. You can have it covered in a day.

FYI: With stock suspension, I have 17X8's with 245's with 1981 fenders and 87-93 moldings attached, and they do not rub.

I believe the purpose of this is for those with extended wheel base setups like MM and Griggs sell. Their K member/A arm setups usually push the wheels forward quite a bit.

I remember it but now I can't find it. The pics were on the site of the shop that did the work, I wanna say it was in Texas. It was a gray hatch I believe. They also did some other body mods to the car.

he did some creative cutting and fender rolling, and I believe that he also shattered his fender extensions in the process. the end result worked, but I think the OP was looking for something he could buy or a shop he could send his parts to.

pretty sure he went back and did it better with what he learned from it.

the end result looks good. the wheels sit a little too far forward for my tastes, but I am sure that if I looked at it every day I would get used to it. I have been following that thread since it started. I only wish my car will look as nice as his does one day.
