Brett Favre Considering Comeback!

it's different though, because neither of which ever suited up and played for the team that drafted them.

lets' not confuse the 2 though, Eli Womanning is no John Elway nor will he ever be a John Elway, IMO, he's not qualified to carry John Elways jock strap.

Id be willing to bet if Elway went and suited up right now, he'd outplay WoManning blindfolded.

I never said Eli was anywhere near as good as Elway, I was just giving another reference of a top pick being a cry baby/bitch about the team that drafted him and wanting to go somewhere else.

They didn't suit up and play for them because they refused to sign with that team.. they didn't think that team offered enough for them in potential success, which is pretty stupid because it's a first overall pick (meaning the team sucked ass and is rebuilding).

Elway had a legitimate gripe...Indy could never have surrounded him with the talent needed to reach championship status, they had no O-Line, and no WR's, RB's....they were losers.

Eli pissed in the face of one of the league's best Offensive Unit all because his worthless no championship winning pops said they couldn't protect him. Funny that SD has had one of the best offensive lines in the league since drafting L.T.

It'd have been funny if they'd have made him recycle through the previous years draft, and then no one had drafted him...that would have been hilarious. Peeli Womanning is about as good as Trent Dilfer ever was.

So I guess John Elway's was tarnished from the beginning since he was being a cry baby about playing with the team that drafted him.. just like Eli Manning.

Totally different situations. Elway and Manning let it be known before they were drafted that they would not join those teams, and they drafted them anyways so they could trade them.

Favre has held the Packers hostage every offseason for how many years now? Now he retires, decides he wants to play again and sends them through more turmoil even though they have made it clear they do not want him anymore.

Either you are stupid (know nothing about anything) or you just have no football knowledge whatsoever.

Eli's refusal to play for the Chargers had NOTHING to do with "they couldn't protect him". It had everything to do with the SAME thing that bothered Elway. Neither player wanted to spend a career for an organization that was poorly run, had a bad track record of not caring and had no hope for the future.

To A.J. Smith's credit, he has made some very good trades the last 4-5 years and managed the Chargers very well. He has brought that organization from a total NFL laughing stock to a respectable ball club. Eli doesn't own a crystal ball and had no way of knowing the Chargers would get better as an organization.

Last time i checked Eli won a superbowl.. That in in itself puts him in a different catagory then most NFL players who will never win a superbowl.

Not saying he's better then elway - But you give no credit for being a crucial part in dismantaling the pats last season in the superbowl, who are arguablly one of the BEST teams of all time.

Yet SD has not won a SB since Eli was drafted and Eli HAS won one with the gmen. Sounds like a good trade off to me  I guess one of the best offensive lines in the league isn't good enough to make it to the big show

I don't understand why people say he's going to tarnish his legacy or his reputation by playing for another team.. Here are a few examples that hasn't tarnished some of the best..

John Elway - Drafted by the Colts, but refused to play for them. Said he was going to play baseball, but the owner gave in and traded him.

Joe Montana - Traded to the Chiefs after Steve Young emerged while Montana was injured.

Johnny Unitas - Drafted by the Steelers and didn't even make the roster. Picked up by the Colts and later on was traded to the Chargers.

Joe Namath - Played for the Jets, but was later waived by the franchise and signed by the Rams.

Emmitt Smith - Played for the Cowboys for a long time, then played for the Arizona Cardinals.

None of them have tarnished their legacies or reputations by their early and late career moves/decisions. So I don't see any reason why Favre's would be tarnished.

I cant speak on Namath and Unitas b/c I didn't not see them play but Montana did nothing in KC, Emmit was only after the record and was nothing like he used to be. Granted they will be remembered for what they accomplished while they played, but they will also be remembered on how they went out.

Eli sucks

PS: I answered your question in the 5.0 talk engine bay thread :D

Redline somewhat hit the nail on the head. You guys are biotching about some of these quarterbacks switching teams, but this was in the BEGINNING of their career, not the end. What did Rice, Emmitt Smith, Montana, Namath (I saw him play when he was with the Rams) and other worthy players actually do with their new team once they got there? Nothing. They were a has-been on a team that was going nowhere. Favre is making an ass out of himself right now. If he goes to another team he'll just bury himself into obscurity.
