Anyone else hate how 94~98's have the worst bumper gap between the tailights to bumper? Mine is about 1/2" gap....which is the same Ive seen on all the other 94~98's running around...its looks like the 99~04 fit better on those models...eh well

I agree 100% and it has bothered me for years. A lot of trunks I see on our cars are shorter on the driverside than the pass right above the tail light where it meets the back of the rear fender.

My tailights aren't even, that bothers the heck outta me. The left one sits flush with the truck lid and the other one sits on about a 1/2 inch. I don't think thats from ford... my car was probably hit before or something

Mines black but I work at a body shop so it still bugs me.....at least its factory at not just my car

i went to school for auto collision, so i know exactly what you mean. little things like that bug the crap out of me because you pay that much more attention to detail. its something that i was taught was wrong to have gaps like that, but yet my car comes with it from the factory.

what gets me the most i think is the trunk corners where it comes down to the bumper by the license plate. does anyone else have their paint all wore away because the trunk sits on the bumper?

You guys are funny! It's not like you paid $50k for your Mustangs! if it bothers you that much, take em apart and work the panels until they suit you. (I'll bet money that no one here cares THAT much.) Its part of the "charm". That sort of fit and finish would have made our 'Stangs too expensive to build. At least they all have the same dysfunction. :)

Your probably right no one cares that much....I spent a good amount of time last weekend figuring it out and theres no way to make the bumper fit like I want it to. As said Im a tech at a colission shop and its just cant be done...my car hasnt been hit in the rear and all parts are OEM that are original....just bothered the gap is so "big" compare to most other cars but guess like you said it kept costs down probably. Eh well ...was just curious if other people was buged but it too

The only thing that bothers me is the water that gets in under the gap on the tail light after you wash it and if you dont get it all out it drips water down the rear bumper when you drive off.

Well, if something was done to take up that slack you'd have to find some new place for the water to run off to. Right now any water that runs off the rear glass runs in the channel around the trunk lid, behind the tail lights and out over the bumper. It would be an interesting piece of engineering to redesign that part and have the water flow elsewhere. Then you could fill the gap with something else.

Why not just add some fiberglass too the bottom of the lights to fill the gap. I might be doing this soon.......

Good luck with that. You're gonna have to add to the bottom of the trunk to

I've noticed it on my car, but it doesnt stick out as bad as it does on the white stang above. Black does a good job at "hiding" it.

fiberglass wont stick to the bumper....howeverI thought of this but its too much work...cut a piece or a old bumper and use it as a filler...would be a lot of work...they do make stuff for bumper repairs and that would work but there would be a lot of 80 grit d/a action and lots of primer and reprime and blocking to get it smooth...being a single parent keeps me from trying out this wacky projects I think up
