The other day my tach was acting weird for no reason, i was at a light and it was registering 3k rpm,, everything else was fine , finally after about 15 minutes, it went back to normal. Any ideas on what to look at, for? thanks

Was the car actually revving at 3k or was it just the tach?

If the car was idling that high, check out the surging idle checklist. Clean the IAC first then move on to the TPS.

you can just replace the tach part of the gauge package. Its head in by a few screws in the back of the cluster.

My tach jumps too but not at idle. When Im driving it will go from like 3k rpm and jump backwards, sometimes below the 0. I bought a 5" tach which works great but the stock one still does that and its annoying to see sometimes. Ive posted before and no one knew what it was. I guess I got to check the connections in the back, etc. Or maybe just get a new unit, do you know where they sell them at? Thanks

Stock tach is terrible... I was tracing a problem in my car for over a year, becuase it wouldn't rev past 5,000 rpm.. Turns out it was just my tach giving false readings. Get a good tach for proper readings. My $.02!!
