I think somebody needs to come around and buy the Raiders from Al Davis.. somebody like the owners of successful teams like the Pats, Colts, Steelers, Giants, Eagles, etc. An owner who will actually allow the coaching staff to stay around for a while and get everything worked out instead of trying to turn it around in 1 year.

Like I said earlier in this thread, I hope Al Davis lives forever and keeps the Raiders. That will ensure that they suck, and that fanbase/franschise deserves nothing else.

Back to the Steelers...who was it who got taken out on the opening kickoff? How is he? I was dead tired and went to bed soon after that.

[jasonh_86]

Lots of QBs have thrown 2 picks in games, those things happen. Johnson had a good game but most of those yards came on 3 very big runs, the rest of the time he was held in check.

And I'm not sure which game you watched, but we certainly didnt get "smoked" since we were right in the game until they scored on their last drive.

Ok, so you obviously recognize the difficulty of playing a division rival, and you were the one who mentioned how you lost to the lowly Dolphins during your Super Bowl run, so maybe you might want to reconsider your stance on this issue.

Got your crystal ball out eh? Well I hate to tell you, but I don't see us losing to the Bucs.

I watched that game and it wasn't as close as the score suggested. The Chiefs dominated that whole game (as much as the Chiefs can), even though they didn't score much until late.

L. Johnson had 28 carries for 198 yards, his 1 long run was for 65. He had another for 34 and his next longest was for 16; that leaves 27 carries for 133 yards, or 4.9 yards per carry average. Doesn't exactly look like he was held in check.

Are you serious?! Won't lose to the Bucs?! Yes, I do have my crystal ball out :rollseye:

The Bucs are going to shut down the Broncos offense. They've got a great defense and they've got enough offense to keep them ahead. The Broncos have nothing but offense, so they're toast if they can't get it going. The Broncos have no defense and Griese is going to pass the ball all over the field, he might not throw it 67 times like a couple games ago, but they can shut them down. They put up 27 on the Bears, who have an exponentially better defense than Denver and 30 on Green Bay, who has a better D than denver. The Bucs are better than you think with Griese back there; he might not be Tom Brady or Peyton Manning, but he's very reliable and can make big plays when necessary.

You might want to stop being such a homer because when the Chargers win the division, you'll catch a lot of crap for talking about how great the Denver team was. Not saying they're not good, because they're going to be really good in a couple years, but they won't win the division unless injuries plague the Chargers' main players (LT, Gates, Rivers).

LB Andre Frazier, I think was his name. He had a spine injury, but was moving his arms and legs right after it happened. They said he was up in the locker room walking around and joking with his teammates after the game. Good to hear that it wasn't serious.

On a side note, do you think the Steelers might try to bring Shaun Alexander in for a workout now that they're getting low on rb's? Willie Parker will be back soon, of course, but they won't have their #2 guy. I think it might be a good idea to bring him in to backup Parker and keep some experienced depth at rb for a year with the way injuries are going this year.

I don't see how you can possibly say they even came close to dominating when they never held a lead larger than 10 points until that final touchdown. We also made a couple huge stops in the red zone.

For our defense, that is holding someone in check. 4.9 yards per carry is very good, but it's not really running wild or anything.

I think you need to really spend some more time watching the Bucs, because they really aren't that good. Their defense is solid but nothing spectacular and Earnest Graham is their only playmaker on offense.

Also, their "great defense" couldn't stop the Saints, and our offense is better.

Griese doesn't bother me at all either. In case you forgot, I put up with Griese for 4 years and the guy is a very smart QB, but he's a statute in the pocket, has poor arm strength and can be easily rattled. He's the definition of a journeyman and NFL backup.

I never once said the Broncos were great (no matter how many times I say this, you and Redline keep trumpeting it) but I think we'll win our division. We beat San Diego once already, and they are the only threat to us.

The score does not always tell the tale of who is dominating who.

You are a true homer, what you say is gold and when anyone else questions you they are inept and don't understand anything about football. Just accept the fact that your Broncos are not the 07 patriots which you made them out to be after 1 game VS the Raiders.

Ohh no? You were only comparing Cutler to the top QB's in the league after week 1. Naa thats not saying how great your team is. Do we really need to go back and quote your first rant on the bronco's after the first game. What a joke of a post that was. I was not even talking the patriots up to that extent last season after they ran the table on the regular season

[jasonh_86]

Yeah, I guess you're right.. the 10th ranked defense, which is also tied with the league lead in interceptions with 8, isn't that good. Definitely not as good as the 29th ranked defense that Denver has.

Denver is ranked 31st in pass yards allowed, they're going to get passed all over. They're 24th in rush yards allowed and 30th in total yards allowed. Yeah, they'll hold the Bucs in check.

Tampa isn't the greatest offensive team, but they're still 9th in rushing yards and passing yards per game, 7th in total yards per game and 13th in points per game at 25.2. Two of those games were against two of the better defenses in the league, much better than what they'll face sunday.

Denver better hope they put up points early and often. So what if i'm wrong, I just don't think the Broncos can beat the Bucs.. big deal, don't get so bent out of shape over everything.

And yes, you have talked about how great they are. As in, "Cutler has the best arm in the NFL.. we have the best WR corps in the NFL.. etc etc.." You didn't say the exact words, but your homerisms were implying it. Not saying the Broncos are bad, but there are teams out there that are better for now.

Exactly my point. KC was winning the battles in the "trenches" they were dominating the offensive and defensive lines. They were constantly getting a good push on the Denver D-line and getting good yardage for LJ nearly everytime he touched the ball. Division games are much more physical, but they still shouldn't have allowed LJ to do that much against them. They better fix that before they play SD again or LT will run rampid.

OK - Buffalo is my team...always has been, but yahoo sports is ranking them 3rd best in the NFL???
Power Poll: Going extra large for Titans, Giants - NFL - Yahoo! Sports
We haven't played a quality team that isn't banged up yet!

I'd put them in the Top 5 at least for now, until somebody comes along and beats them. I think they're going to be a really good team all year long and for years to come. They'll probably win the division if New England doesn't pull a 180 and get everything turned around.

I'm not sure I'd put them up that high. Once again - they haven't beat a quality team yet. Wait until they play San Diego, the Jets, New England, Denver, etc. They could end up a 12-4 team but lose 4 games to the only tough teams on the schedule, then flop in the playoffs. I hope I'm wrong. San Diego will be a test...

Gotcha. Making the playoffs would be a big step in the right direction though; get some experience under all of those guys belts. They're a very young team, aren't they?

I think they'll beat the Pats once, but i'm not sure about the Chargers. I think they can handle the Jets both times, unless they just have a bad game. I'd say 11-5 or 12-4 is very realistic for them.

Ohh no? You were only comparing Cutler to the top QB's in the league after week 1. Naa thats not saying how great your team is.[

Do we really need to have another reading comprehension lesson here Redline? Just as you show there, talking about Jay Cutler does not equal talking up the whole team.

Read son, read.

Do we really need to go back and quote your first rant on the bronco's after the first game.

By all means, please do.

Yeah, I guess you're right.. the 10th ranked defense, which is also tied with the league lead in interceptions with 8, isn't that good. Definitely not as good as the 29th ranked defense that Denver has.

What does Denver's defense have to do with it? Nice attempt at deflection, but try to stay on topic.

Denver is ranked 31st in pass yards allowed, they're going to get passed all over. They're 24th in rush yards allowed and 30th in total yards allowed. Yeah, they'll hold the Bucs in check.

And the teams we've faced have all had better offenses with the exception of KC, and then you could make the case that KC is more dangerous with Johnson, Bowe and Gonzalez.

Tampa isn't the greatest offensive team, but they're still 9th in rushing yards and passing yards per game, 7th in total yards per game and 13th in points per game at 25.2. Two of those games were against two of the better defenses in the league, much better than what they'll face sunday.

That's all pretty misleading, since Tampa Bay has run more plays from scrimage than any other team in the NFL. They're middle of the pack in yards per play, definetly not a big play offense.

Denver better hope they put up points early and often. So what if i'm wrong, I just don't think the Broncos can beat the Bucs.. big deal, don't get so bent out of shape over everything.

Who is getting bent out of shape, it's just a football discussion.

Yes I did say those things and provided ample proof of them. I've posted several articles here from reputable sources singing Cutler's praises and on the receiving corps debate, you provided a list of teams you felt were better and I posted why I disagreed. Unfortunately though we are not as strong as we were since we lost Darrell Jackson to injury and traded Colbert to the Seahawks.

And I'll give you credit for that discussion too, as you were one of the very few here who actually tried to back up an argument instead of just bickering.

I'll give you the fact that they dealt our D-line a fit (note, we were without DeWayne Robertson) but they certainly didn't dominate our O-line. They did get some pressure but we more than held our own there.

[jasonh_86]

I brought both team's defenses into the discussion because I think the Bucs D will be able to hold the Denver offense down, while the Denver D won't be able to hold them Bucs down as much. I was stating that I think the Bucs will have some decent success against Denver on offense since they had success against their previous opponents.

San Diego has the #1 offense in the NFL as of right now, but the Raiders offense is still very much a work in progress; I wouldn't say they're better on offense than the Bucs, they might have more talent but they're not as good right now. There's just no way anyone can seriously think that the Raiders offense is better than the Bucs.

It never hurt the Pats in the regular season last year... but we didn't perform up to par in the SB and then started out #1 this year and lost Brady ... Maybe Eli won't get taken out though.

[Mike97gt]

You are right there since the Cowboys will probably win the Superbowl this season.

Yeah I will believe that when I see it.. this core group dallas team has not even won a playoff game, please don't compare that with this core group pats team that has gone 14-3 in post season play and won 3 Sb's... sure they blew it last year but NE in this decade is here and

keep looking down..

a little more

the cowboys this decade are about right here

I think a lot of them dont want Brady to be considered one of the best ever b/c if someone else comes along in such a short amount of time then how good was brady really to begin with?

First of all Romo has never even won a play off game. He throws INT's and Drops the balls more so then brady would have if he was out there playing w/ a torn MCL/ACL. Romo has been around for a few years but his inexperience still shows Does he go a game w/ out an INT or fumbled ball? Romo has to win 3 superbowls and have equal stats before he can be put into Brady's catagory. Some guy who has never won a playoff game and holds no records is no Tom Brady.

The 08 Cowboys are no 07 Patriots. The loss to Washington showed that, This time last year the Patriots were 4-0, not 3-1

Who has come along in such a short time.. it's brady/peyton

to continue with this theme........

everybody else down here
