dash speakers

87-93....the 3.5" dash speakers come stock.....will a 4" speaker fit in those holes without trimming/cutting the inner dash? it looks pretty close, but i figured i'd ask before i dropped the money on some new dash speakers. the 4"ers are more common and should have a little better sound so i'd like to go with them if they will fall right in.

I would imagine there would be some trimming. For the price of decent door and dash speakers I would get a component system instead, put the tweeters in the dash and the speakers in the doors. I should sound better that way too.

I've got 3.5 JL's in my dash...they sound great even without door speakers.

lol. i see im not the only one who has switched to tweeters and left out the door speakers. after taking the door panel off just didnt feel like messing with the door speaker anymore.

aahh yes, another fellow JL'er. I have the 3.5 JL's in the dash, Pioneer 6 1/2 in the doors (special application, slim to fit with the power windows) and JL's in the hatch. So much more clarity than the stock paper. Course the 10" subs in the back help throw down the bass rather well
