4.30's or 4.10's?

Thats not accurate at all. On my 04 I had, 4.30 gears, 26 inch tire, 108 is where I hit the factory limiter in fourth. (5 speed car). So you can get well above 100mph with 4.30s. Just don't plan on any real power adders.... maybe a small shot of n2o.

Well, I stand corrected then.

My speedo must be off or something even though it's calibrated... on a 315/35/17 4th ends right around 108-110mph according to my speedometer. I figured that would be around (give or take a few) 100mph with 4.30's.

x2

26" tire, 4.30 gear in 4th gear will top out at 108-109 MPH.
26" tire, 4.10 gear in 4th gear will top out at 114 MPH.

What is 4th good untill with a 28" tire and the stock limiter? That is what size drag radials I have (they are overkill, but they were free) and I figured I might get 114-115mph out of them, but it looks like I might be in luck in case I run nitrous.

Sorry, wasn't trying to call u out there. Just wanted the op to get accurate info to make their decision. I actually wished for quite a while I did 4.10's instead of 30's. The 30s seem to cause the coveted low end buck while trying to cruise parking lots. :D I imagine on a stock type car u won't see much if any gains in the 1/4. Takes on heck of a driver mod to pull either off on street tires.

28" tire, 4.10s, stock limiter would be 125MPH in 4th.

I haven't been able to get it hosted on my site but if you want I have a RPM/Speed calculator (excel file) that I can email it to you. Basically it allows you to put in tire size, transmission, rev limit and gear and it shows you the speed, RPM by gear ratio. It's also good to figure out the differences in cruising speeds from changing gears. Email me at [email protected] and I can send it.

It's no problem, didn't take it as you were calling me out...:nice:

I get a little of the low end buck with 4.10's too, but it's not too bad.

I like the 4.10's for the track, but on street tires I have only managed a low 2.1x 60' so I know what you mean about it being hard to pull it off on street tires.

Drag radials make it so much easier, lol.

Awesome, thanks Bill.

I'll send you an e-mail so I can get the calc. from you.

How tall is a 315/35/17 tire?

Each brand may vary a little, but my Sumitumo HTR-Z's are 25.7" overall diameter in that size according to Tire Rack.
