I think he is going by the bull**** leaked out of foxboro.. BTW the OMG brady may need another surgery was leaked out of foxboro too. .. he might or he might not miss 09 that I do not know but I know that was leaked from foxboro
Anyone who follows Adam Schefter knows that he doesn't report something unless there is very good reason to believe it's true.

BTW do you think 11-5 and missing the playoffs is a satisfactory result for this team.. the only reason it's ok is brady went down..

Given the circumstances, absolutely.

So belichick who is hated by the media for never telling them a thing sat down with him and said that we are 95 percent certain we are keeping cassel unless we know for sure brady is 100 percent..

:rlaugh:

You know when the media finds out what the patriots are thinking... after it is done..

He is probably thinking thats what they will do.. it's him providing his own opinion on what they are doing or he is going by the opinion of somebody outside the circle of decision making so it might be right or wrong..

Look he is a reporter he has to write something interesting.. in this case he took something the team did and he thinks this means that he will be with the team..

Plus you have to remember the media wants big stories.. matt cassel staying and brady out for 09 is a big story and if he guesses right he gets a lot of credit if he is wrong it does not hurt him.

Based on almost 10 years of following this team and what local media close to the team thinks I disagree with his reporting of the cassel/patriots/brady situation..

if he keeps cassel it would be a full turnaround of his ideas on cap management.

As I said before I would be SHOCKED if he keeps cassel. that would be a incredibly stupid thing to do...

this draft has a poor crop of QB's cassel is worth more now then ever in trade.

My guess is cassel is going to be a detroit lion next year... the patriots would love that 20th overall pick the lions got from dallas.

BTW just to let you know the pats have only 3.9 million under the cap right now.. so who is going to get cut to keep cassel???

OMFG I am looking at the numbers now..

Tom brady's 2009 cap number is 14.6 million matt cassel will be a 14.2 million dollar hit on the 2009 cap if he is not cut or traded by june first leaving only 3.9 million of cap space unless major players are cut.. LOL they won't be able to sign anybody..

OMG this keeping cassel thing and not trading him like anybody who has even heard of a salary cap would do is just a brilliant move.. so who is going to be cut to keep cassel??

mike vrabel, matt light, jarvis green and kevin faulk would be the first on the chopping block they could save 3.3 million cutting seymour

matt light would save them 4.2 million kevin faulk would be 3.5 million

Wow that would be worth it... lets get rid of half the team and keep 28 million in qb's on the books.. :nono:

Put it this way they keep cassel they can't do ANYTHING since they would be in cap hell.. yeah thats what I see happening 10 years of brilliant cap management down the drain to keep cassel

As I have said if they were going to really keep him he would have been signed to a long term deal at a more reasonable cap number.. this was done to allow the new team to be able to work out a deal for them and not be stuck with a deal the pats worked out.

and just to let you know I am not impressed with reporter names being tossed around. I have made it very clear in other posts that I think the media is terrible and hardly ever right and in a lot of cases incompetent or agenda driven

there is a very good reason belichick has zero respect for sports writers.. I agree with him.

Again, SVT, this is Adam Schefter we're talking about. I could count on one hand the number of times I can remember him being wrong. Also if I'm not mistaken, he was the one who broke the news of Brady's injury far before anyone else.

Sorry, I think your numbers are wrong.

13. New England -- $21m under – This figure doesn’t count the (gulp) $14.8m one-year tender for Matt Cassel. If they tag Cassel they’ll have $28 million cap dollars tied up in 2 quarterbacks. However, they can make it work. DE Richard Seymour, OT Matt Light, WR Randy Moss, LB Adalius Thomas, and DE Jarvis Green have a combined $65m in cap charges – if 3 or 4 of those guys restructure it frees up $15m easily.

They do not have to cut anyone. They can restructure the contracts and make it work.

sure they can convince 3 or 4 guys to restructure and then have no money to sign free agents or sign draft picks with... they would be in cap hell this is just laughable

plus the plans to ink wilfork and others to long term deals i guerss go right out the window.. 10 years of brilliant cap management down the drain all to keep the magic cassel.

Guess there is room for improvement then. Just like how hes wrong about this whole Brady/cassle situation.

everyone gets lucky sometimes.

everyone gets lucky sometimes.

the brady injury being season ending was not a surprise.. hell several players commented about it within hours of the injury.. it did not take much of a guess to report he was going on the IR

I am just wondering what team cassel is going to be on.. My opinion is the lions make a lot of sense with the first rounder they got from dallas..

Yeah it was over the line, and I'll never considering the hatchet "buried" b/c your a liberal and I cant stand people like you. Plus you dont know anything about football and you come in here thinking you do.

So let me get this straight... You don't like people who are Liberals? you don't like people because of their political views??

Get your head out of your ass dude.. seriously,...

That does not make them a bad person i'm sorry..

he is entitled to his opinion... to me it makes that person misguided.. I have met many liberals who are good people who mean well they just don't GET that what they want is destroying our civilization..

Thats MY opinion right or wrong in your point of view does not matter and we don't want the football thread turning into another political thread

I don't agree with Travis on not liking Eric simply for his political stance but...Does believing in murder or rape (not doing it) make you a bad person? That is exactly what I and many people believe abortion is.

Abortion is a tuff topic. I am prochoice (not saying I agree with abortion cause i do not) But i believe it should be left up to the choice of the mother. Who are we to tell her what she can and can't do? Thats taking away basic rights here in America.

Well i don't agree with your opinion of Liberals.. Conservatives actions are just as harmful to this country as liberal actions. So to me it seems that your misguided. Not saying I'm a liberal or a conservative cause i'm neither. I reconize all the bad on both sides. Does that mean i don't like you because of your political views? Not in the least, I like you alot Mike, and value your input.

Agreed this is a football thread /end politicalness. :)

I think your a very good member on here and you seem like a good guy.. maybe if your in massachusetts sometime we can have a beer and I will try to talk you out of being pro-choice

/politics.. back to football..

Brady was on ESPN today saying that everything is fine, the rehab is going great and everything looks good for him playing next season.

Oooops, guess someone was wrong....again...

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said yesterday he's progressing from knee surgery as expected and sees no reason he won't be ready for the 2009 season opener.

Brady added that he's "doing everything" in his workouts and that "you wouldn't know that I had surgery if you watched me." He said he's "moved on" and that he considers his injured left knee a "non-issue."

Optimistic Brady says he'll be ready for opener - The Boston Globe

who ever that bone head is on the yahoo sports site...yeah hes an idiot

According to 5.0 Kidd its all just some vast conspiricary and Brady is still injured, has a major infection and will not play next year. I guess Brady publicly announcing his physical condition and rehab is not enough

Several different members of the boston sports media have seen brady working out and practicing..

I just wonder what team is getting cassel.

Yeah but some dolt on Yahoo sports knows so much more then all of them who actually watch him practice. I say Detroit

Its not really a question of if Brady is coming back but how he's gonna play

From what Brady is saying himself its not even apparent he had a surgery. Id say he's going to be just fine w/ no side effects

You are acting like such a jackass man. Really, do you put effort into trying to act like a buffoon or does it just come naturally for you?

I never Brady was still injured or would not be able to play in 2009. What I did say is that it was a possibility, and you were acting like all these rumors were some conspiracy against Brady.

I seriously doubt that all these rumors of infection and possible 2nd surgery were just thrown out there without some basis in truth. He might be fine now (months later) or he may not be.

And remember Travis, your team stuck the franchise tag on Cassel who is still on your roster. Try telling me there isnt at least some concern about Brady's health.

But then again, you're the same guy who hates people for their political affiliation and is still bashing a Pro Bowl quarterback, so I'm sure I'd probably get more intellectually stimulating conversation talking to an ATM machine.
