big cam but no lope??

I recently finished rebuilding my engine and I put a comp xe282hr cam in it (.565/.574 and 232/240). My question is why doesnt it lope??? I was expecting it to lope like crazy but it idles as smooth as my stock cam. Thanks for your help.

I've got the same cam, its amazing how streetable that cam is. Nothing is wrong with it, soemone told me that they switch the 282hr from a SMALLER anderson grind, and the Comp idled better, drove better and makes more power.

Put some dumps on the car, it will give it the illusion of a lopey cam because the sound will bounce off the pavement before it hits your ears :flag:

Ive got dumps on myne, and i think that it sounds pretty pissed at idle, but not much more than my e-cam. i think the spintechs help a little too

afr185s flow a lot of air for a n/a 302, borderline too much, but at least you have room to grow in the future...

as far as the "lope" issue goes, if you find out there isn't a problem somewhere else, judge the car and the cam on how hard it pulls and the streetability of it, not on the sound it produces... worst case scenario your car will be a sleeper with less of a rough idle

either that, or pull out the comp and sacrifice a bunch of power and put in a "Thumpr" cam :rlaugh:

P.S. get a dyno tune and a chip burned for the car, as of right now your stock computer has no idea what the hell is going on

What's the lsa on that cam? If it's like 112, don't expect much lope.

Then again i've seen video clips of guys running the X303 and they lope like crazy while mine just rumbles a little choppy even at a low idle. And, speaking of idle, don't drop it down a ton just to get the lopey sound, that slows down your oil pump and water pump. Keep it around 800-1000RPM.

Something messed up here, or are you happy with it?

My friends AFR165 motor with an Ebrock intake and similar cam runs very strong!

No im very happy with it, I was just expecting a little more lope. I watched videos on youtube with this same cam and it sounds choppy as hell. Kinda like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1l202bu7ig

Sounds like a nice setup, just wondering that 14.3 ET was with old setup right:shrug:

yea that was the stock setup.

I asked:

So how does it feel when you press the loud pedal?
You responded:
its worse than fingernails on a chalkboard. everytime i hit the pedal i cringe.
Which confused me if your cam was causing some god awful high pitch noise.
Huh? Your engine is making a loud squeel noise now?

my bad i thought you were talking about my clutch pedal making noise because of the thread i posted asking about it haha. http://forums.stangnet.com/775847-clutch-help.html

where did you get that my pedal is making noises? im confused

Had no clue about the clutch. The loud pedal is the one that makes the engine get loud :rlaugh:
*takes one man card*
