all,
been a while since i have posted .... i purchased a used 96GT convert a couple of years ago for my wife. I still had my 96 cobra at the time...
well what I have found after doing a few repairs is that it seems the motor has been replaced with a PI motor.
I had problems with what seemed to be a head gasket and took it in for repairs to a reputable mechanic. turns out the intake was cracked as well as the head gasket was bad.. but the heads were PI heads .. on a 96 GT.
i have had problems with loosing oil the last few weeks.... take it on a 200 mile trip.. get home and low oil light is on... mobile 1 .. thanks... i dint have time to crawl under the vehicle ... so i put some mobile 1 in .. cranked it up .. pressure held, oil level was good and drove it to the shop.
turns out.. it has a oil cooler on it .. like a cobra. but it doesnt look like the oil cooler sandwich on the cobra .. the inlet/outlet is not on the same side. but it does tie into the radiator lines.
has the original motor been replaced with a PI out of a crown vic or something?
now the oil cooler has a pin hole that weeps and at rpm/speed squirts out oil in a nice steady stream ... noticed it on the ground.
when i purchased the car i noticed that it had just as much power as my 96 cobra.
any ideas as to what this motor could be?
thanks for your time
