what could keep my car from fully warming up?

The point was that for someone who doesn't want to install a dedicated temp gauge, this is a simple way to get a decent idea of temps (without the risk of getting burned, and while having the system under pressure).

Yeah, I know what you were thinking but my fluid drops over 40° across my Granatelli aluminum rad. It's not a very good indicator of what's coming out of the engine.
 
Take it up with my radiator. The 195 t-stat opened up and the fluid never got over 160 at the filler.

What were your temps at the stat itself? Were they taken with the same instrument? You didn't note a differential (unless one assumes the stat opens at the noted temp, exactly, and without fault).


To see a 40* differential across an entire coil would be doing outstanding. What are your radiator outlet temps?
