Making my mustang more manly.

Just dont forget that the meanest thing you can do for looks is to drop it and get some fat 315s out back.

My little checklist would look like this (limited for money sake):

Exterior
1. Springs (Ford Motorsport C-springs $110 bucks)
2. Wheels (I like your thinking with the FR500s. Awesome, but NO white)
3. 315s out back

-If you can afford it- Headlights and cobra R hood

Power
1. Offroad pipe and mufflers. Forget headers. They are NOT worth the money when you are on a budget. Forget SLP. Most people are going to tell you they sound just like a truck with straight pipes. Get some flows. Cheap and sounds good.
2. Gears

-No other bolt ons are worth it when on a budget.

Just remember its not going to be worth putting a bunch of money into little performance mods cause its not gonna be fast no matter what. You gotta really dig into the motor or get a power adder to do anything worth while. Thats why I say make it sound good and get some gears so its not a complete joke and save the rest of your money to do something worth while. :)

I second the flows. They can be had off ebay for less than $70/ea (40-series "Original Flows"). Arguably one of the best sounding mufflers you can install on a 5.0.

Tell your son to repaint the top "white" and please report back his exact remarks back to you. And yes that is a cool looking car.

If he has enough money to do the mods we are suggesting, he has enuf $$ to change the color of the top. That's the last I'll say about it but if you really like driving around in a car with a white top then its your preference and thats all that matters.

I can't post the comments on this forum!! :D

I always wanted a black vert, with a white top, white leather interior, and chrome FR500s. Nothing wrong with a white top, you just have to work a little bit harder.

I think the three different colors don't really match. With a grey interior and that exterior, I'd look long and hard at either changing the interior to white, or coloring the top to black.

I'll 2nd that...but doesn't your car also have a couple bullet holes and knife marks in it? :D

Yeah "Hachet marks" My cars previous owner has "women problems" so this chick beat the car up with a hatchet....smashing head lights, passenger window, leaving hatchet marks on the fenders cutting the seats etc. Then she used that hatchet she had handy to cut the convertible top and poured white paint inside.

Previous owner replaced the window and top...I replaced the lights, carpet, seats etc. All that is left now is some body work on the hatchet marks and a paint job. Previous owner said i needed to do the rear brakes....i came to find that the rear brakes were so worn down that there wasnt even a inside pad on the rear caliper...THE CALIPER PISTON WAS MAKING DIRECT CONTACT TO THE ROTOR.

So i don't totally derail this thread....Be happy your car didn't come butchered "literally". The white top isn't that bad. Its white because of the interior. I always wondered what it would look like if i dyed my top the same color as my car though.

Why does your radiator hose look like its from a shop vac? :D

Take it from someone who has a white top you definately don't need to change the color of it, I know I have gone through that stage AND i have gone through the stage of planning on getting white wheels when i first got my car in 2005 also. But 4 years later and many of the mods people already mentioned in this thread my car is finally somewhat to where I want it to be (i have the mod bug, im never satisfied) Get a drop, tint, headlights and some exhaust and the bada$$ factor will rise significantly, I eventually would like a cowl hood to really bring it up a notch, heres how she looks white top and all today:

NM looks good.

Black Stampede,

That there hose is an aftermarket piece for people who cant find a specific upper radiator hose. I think cutting a rubber hose cut in the middle and adding a pipe is a bit tacky. BTW its made of flexible metal.

You need one of those when you use solid lowering motor mounts and your motor still sticks up this high....
