Someone tried to steal my ride!

Thursday night I went out to eat with some friends after I got off work. I left my car at my job (I work at a mall). When we finished eating, my friend dropped me off at my car. I got in and noticed that my console was open but I couldn't remember if I did it or not. Then I went to start the car and there was no ignition! I got out and called the cops and while I was on hold I walked around the car and saw that they popped the lock off the passenger door. It took almost two hours for the cops to get there. I looked through the entire car and nothing was missing. It was weird. I ended up keeping the car there overnight so my insurance could come out the next morning and look at it.
The next day when I got dropped off at work she was still there! Thank goodness, I thought the punka$$es might come back for it. I looked through it to see if I could see anything I couldn't see the night before and I noticed the lid to the console was warped and wouldn't close. After closely looking at the lid of the console, the plastic cover on the back of it was cracked and pried open. Whoever broke in to my car was looking for something specific because the only thing in the car that had been touched besides the ignition being ripped out was the console. All my paperwork and junk had been rummaged through and thats it. Well now she's in the shop getting fixed up. Hope they find those punks, apparently I was the third break in this week.

That sucks man!! At least they could not take her!

That brings up a good question.

What do you guys think of aftermarket Alarm systems????

I put a Viper system in my car when it was brand new (being a vert, its even easier to break into). 8 years later and its been great. It warns people if they touch the car even gently, and the alarm goes off via proximity sensor, shock, etc. Its nice to be able to leave the top down outside a restaurant, bar etc. knowing that the alarm will go off if anyone even leans into the vehicle.

Yeah I do not know what alarm is on my car, but its pretty wild. Goes off on any slight bumps or noises etc. Self locks and sets about 30 seconds after doors or anything are closed. It is nice though I will say. Def. sucks, but at least they did not get your car or damage it further

Show me your remote and I can tell you what you have. You can set the auto lock and auto arm feature if you want.

Good alarms are a very important thing. While they wont deter all theives (when was the last time you payed attention to a car alarm) they will deter the punk asses. I have installed many Viper systems in verts with the radar sensor so if a top is cut it will still go off.
The talking option was very popular "Please step away from the car or the alarm will sound in 3..... 2...... " :rlaugh: You could change them but that always seemed to work.

Ill take a look at it when I get home. Now that I think about it, I thought it might be a hornet or wasp....I know there is one of the two on the instructions manual:shrug:

Hornet, thats made by Viper which is a good brand. Should be a gray remote with orange buttons. Looks allot like the late 90's Chevy remotes.
My ex had one on her car for 3 years and finally bitched to me that she wished the alarm would pop her trunk like the stock one did. It was a Viper so all I did was grab the remote and hold the 2nd channel button down for 2 seconds. I told her to just hold it for two seconds. She stood there holding the remote (not presseing anything) and counted "one onethousand, two onethousand. Its not working". I went inside thinking I cant be with someone that stupid. She figured it out but a couple days later I discovered she did in fact think a Thesaurus was a thimble sized dinosaur :nonono:

Could you recommend me a viper model???
Are vipers good or from your own experience do you think that there is something else better ?
Thanks

Ive installed Alpine, Ungo, Clifford, Viper etc etc.

An Ungo, Clifford, Viper, DEI are all pretty much the same thing. If you just want doors/entry protection, shock and engine start disable then get a Viper 350. They should be under $200 installed. It will cost extra to pop the trunk and you can add a glass senso or radar proximity sensor too. :nice:

Their higher end 2-way paging systems are really nice. If you are within a mile or so and the alarm goes off the remote will show you why the alarm is going off.

So thats why my friggin trunk release does not work with the remote LMAO I pushed it a bunch of times and nothing....so I gotta hold it for alittle....interesting :rlaugh:

Viper alarm is a good idea and you should be able reduce your insurance with it. Two places I won't bring my mustang as I read a long time ago they were worst places for cars to get either broken into or stolen (my wife's CRX was broken into at the mall once now that I think of it). The two place are 1. The Mall and 2. the movie theater. I guess I couldn't work at either as well. If one of those is the destination my stang stays in the garage and my wife's truck gets shuffling duty.

Sorry for the jerks chose yours, but glad it's not too bad.

I tried to contact the mall's security office to see if they could check the tapes and they said they cant get involved and that I need to call their insurance company. So I called the mall's insurance company and said I need a subpeona (spelling?) I just figured since I was the 3rd car to get jacked in just a few days the mall might want to figure out who's doing this. Then I called the collision shop and they're still waiting on confirmation from my insurance company.....soooo I called my insurance and they said they need to confirm that I had coverage the night my car got broken in to. It doesn't make sense to me since I've had this policy since April. So now the insurance is saying in order to confirm my coverage they need to see the time written on the police statement but I need to get it and fax it in. I've never had to go through so much hassle. What ever happened to dropping the car off at the shop, getting a rental, pay the deductible, and wait for your car to be fixed??! Ok, I'm done venting for now. Since I cant get a rental until they confirm my coverage Ive been driving my dad's Suzuki Reno. Damn I miss my GT...........: (

That has to be BS from the Mall.....
They're pretty much saying that you have to go in front of a judge and have the judge write you a subpoena ?? WTF?
Tell them that you're going to contact the news station with the other people that got their cars broken into.

It does not hurt them to help you, they are just been asses!
