Lowered the Bullitt!!

I know this is the wrong section but I haven't really posted much over here since I sold the '95 and I figured I would update you guys! Today I cut the springs 1 coil all around, no iso's in front and both iso's in the rear. I have fallen in love with this car all over again, it just looks so nasty! The ride isn't much worse than stock and it handles a little better. Overall its definitely a worthwhile free mod. To all those "don't cut springs" haters, I am telling you first hand it is fine. Just because your friends cousin's brother told you it was bad doesn't mean it is. It's obviously not coilovers, but the ride is WAY better than my '95 with Eibach Sportlines and my buddy's '97 GT with H&R Supersports. I miss this section!! Enjoy!

Sweetness.... I love that Highland Green... Im sure its a world of difference to the 95. It's fine if you still hang with us...:nice:

I cut plenty of sets to gain some drop with no issues.....I notice Chip Foose always cuts springs to get the hgt in.

Like I said in the other thread, it looks great bro... There is nothing wrong at all with cutting stock specific rate springs, as long as your car has good quality shocks & struts. Bullitt's come with factory Tokico's, so they are good to go when cutting springs. It is a bad idea to cut aftermarket progressive rate springs though...

Thanks man! Yea I couldn't agree with you more, sometimes people just don't get their stories straight. The Tokico's that come stock on the Bullitt are actually excellent dampers. The Bullitt in stock form handled really well, and lowering it was more for the aesthetics than to make it handle better, but I took a few corners this afternoon and it definitely stays much flatter. Overall I am happy I will probably get some c/c plates down the road if need be, as well as a few other suspension goodies. I have been doing some research into designing and fabricating my own panhard bar. :D

Yeah, my Mach 1 came with the same dampers as your Bullitt from the factory, & they were actually really good, but I already had a very low mileage set of Bilstein HD's, so I swapped them out. CC plates would be a good idea because eventually you will see inner tire wear after a while because that is a pretty significant drop compared to your factory stance. The MM panhard bar was one of the 1st suspension mods I installed & it made a huge difference in tightening up the rear. You should give their design a look when designing yours...

Thanks man. Like I said, the Bullitt suspension is really good for a stock suspension, hope you enjoy it.

On another note, I'm a little out of the loop...did you ever get your quarter panel worked out?

Nope. I just ordered a fuel pump....mine isnt working anymore. Hopefully i'll get the 1/4 replaced within the month.

And yea, i've had that setup for years....about 30,000miles. Good stuff!

It looks real good. There is only one thing wrong with the car but its a complaint I have with all 94-04 mustangs. The wheel wells look way to big for the factory wheel and tires package. A set of deep dish 10.5 rear wheels go along way towards making them look more proportional. It seems like I remember you stating something about putting on some DD 10.5's later on though.

Yea I've already started fooling around with some ideas, loosely based on the MM PH bar. I am taking a metals class Fall quarter at school and a welding class Winter quarter so I'm hoping by the winter I will be able to put something nice together.

Yup, eventually I plan on getting some DD rears, although I am still paying off the car so $500 towards rear wheels and tires isn't my top priority right now.
