OP, google BBK SSI fuel leak.

its just one of those things that did not successfully make the transition from paper to reality.

they sure look cool though

+1

From working 8 years in manufacturing and reading of all the horror stories here, my money is on a tolerance stack. The dimensions of 4 components determine whether or not there is enough force/contact on the o-rings for a good seal.

1) Lower intake - width between mounting holes for the fuel rails
2) Cross-over tube - length of cross-over tube
3) Depth of hole in each fuel rail
4) Thickness of fuel rails at mounting bracket

Difference between max and min dimensions for these parts might look something like this:

width btw fuel rail mount at max + cross-over tube at min length + holes in fuel rails at max (depth) + width at mounting bracket max = probably 2-4 mm

Easy to see how reports of a cross-over tubes that moves laterally after install, are possible.

Like mentioned above, TAKE IT BACK!!!!! 67coupe brought up a great point, someone posted a thread about a month ago titled "BBK SSI INTAKE WARNING" (i think thats right) it was a hot topic for weeks. They're known to leak fuel with the potential to be VERY DANGEROUS. Just like anything, I'm sure there's plenty of happy customers running that intake with great results. But after reading the warning thread, I would never consider that manifold which is too bad cause it's kind of cool looking and different!
