Hey Guys,

While i was under my car changing out my shifter i noticed that the back end of the tranny is coated in red (tranny) fluid.. is this really bad? or is it probably just a seal going out?

It's got 3.73's

Just throwing this out there: With shorter gears in the rear and a stock driveshaft, you may experience driveshaft vibration at high speeds that can actually beat the tailshaft bushing in the trans to hell. This can lead to a sloppy yoke fit and a seal leak.

Be sure to check the state of the bushing when looking at the seal or else the leak may persist or return.

That or destroy the tailshaft housing like mine did. Have you gone 120 or over lately ? Guess the 4r70w's are bad about trashing them above 120.

Mine was covered in fluid a little while back and my leak turned out to be a the pan gasket. Replaced with a new one and no more fluid all over the place, might want to start with the easy stuff first. I have the problem where I always think the worst right away, usually not that bad.:)
