Here's a couple ideas that are fairly subtle

:stupid: Plus, you have to remember that you started with something that didn't run and was NOt special in any way. Unless you over-paid for it in the first place, you won't have to worry about resale values much. My opinion anyway. Looking good on the progress pics, btw!!

KamiKaziDK: I'm still unsure what the finished product will even look like. I need to put everything I have together and decide from there.. cuz wow do I have a lot of parts lol.
Been a minute since I've posted updates... things seem to be going slow. But here's the engine so far:

Picked up some of these for $10. Going to finish tinting 94-95 ones and paint these 96-98 ones black to match, but not tint the tails. Then I'll decide from there which ones to keep. I think I wanna go with sequentials..

Also, thinking about selling these 16's for $200-250. Should I do that and get some bigger (17-18) inch wheels?

Jamee, I agree with you in that painting it pink is not a good idea. I think even pink accents are screaming loud. I'm partial to blues, reds, and black... asking this question is like asking what exhaust sounds the best.

My fiance has used the new Dark Candy Apple Red as nail polish which I think is bangin' hot and would let you match your car which would also be unique. Just and idea. Keep the progress pics coming!

Not certain about wheels size still, but thanks for the opinions. :)
Did a mock up of some pieces today. Until it's installed I think I'll keep the valve covers off and the accessory brackets as well as the upper intake manifold. Here's a pic of it somewhat assembled tho

oops, had local IP instead of address :-/

Good job so far. This is probably one of the better build progress threads I've seen on here over the 9 years I've been a member. Also, the damage I saw in the tranny was on the 1/2 slider. Very common wear spot from going aggressively into second. I'm too tired to scroll back and see if there was anything else but rebuilding the t5 really isnt that bad. I do rebuild a few a year though but even for a novice, it's possible. Special tools you need are a micrometer, dial indicator, a hydraulic press if you're doing bearings and patience among other things. If you're ever looking to try it, let me know and I can type you up a pretty detailed walkthrough with pics. Keep the updates coming, I'm actually inspired to come back and check out this forum again thanks to this build. It was getting pretty stale around here over the winter and I've been spending most of my time on the ATV forums.

thanks :)
I've enjoyed making this thread detailed as possible about the build and decisions. Also, the t5 is half tore down right now, shouldn't be a problem rebuilding it. I map things out well in my head, so that helps well for reassembly. I just need a ring expander thing to get one of the c clip things off. :-/
I've been slacking on the build a bit lately, been enjoying summer too much, but I'll get back into gear at some point. Just need to finish up some stuff on the engine then I'll grab into the T5 and finish that up.
Also, picked up a 7 color tach to match the color changing headunit. Any recommendations on tach location recommendations?

Yeah, snap ring pliers are required as well. Two types actually. A standard pair to remove the snap ring on the end of the driven 5th gear assembly and then a specialty set for removing the two different sized snap rings on the output shaft assembly. If you get stuck on any part, post up. It's awesome you're tackling a project like this. A lot of guys won't even get this deep into projects.
