Swapping throttle body and plenum??

I work at a salvage yard and 03 Mustang GT came in today with a accufab throttle body and plenum(70mm I believe but not sure yet). I can get it for next to nothing and already have it off at work. My question is with the gaskets that are on already and what not can I just swap the whole thing including leaving the throttle position sensor and air idle control valve(i think thats what there called) on the ones that its on already?? I have a 01 GT so i figured there the same?? Anything else I might want to be careful with?? Thanks

Go for it.

If I recall correctly you might need to play a bit with the PCV hose on the front of the Accufab plenum. I think they used a couple of different sized fittings on those things and you might need to make up a simple size-adapter.

i bought my plenum and TB as one piece off and 03 and mines an 00 and had no problems with the swap..i have different brands than you but that still shouldnt make a difference

Your not going to need any new gaskets really. The maniflod gasket is
rubber and reusable. I would try the allready attached throttle position
sensor and IAC, since it was working on the 03. It cant hurt to have
a working IAC laying around, when the other one goes bad.

Thanks for the replies guys. Another quick question. I noticed the IAC on mine has a little black cap on top of this where this one that I took off does not have it?? Can anyone tell me what this is and should I take my old one off and swap them?? I was just going to use the one on the new penlum becase its stuck on pretty tight with the gasket but if I have to swap them I will.

Ford probably made some minor improvement to the 03, should be better.
I know the pvc vacumn line to the IAC is a larger size on my 04 gt as compared to my 99 gt. Like trinity said you may have to make an adaptor.

Possibly because, depending on your mods, there's 5-7HP or so to be had from this combo but the potential for a couple of hundred bux if sold.

The thing about a larger Throttlebody and plenum is that the two gives you a wider variation of performance e.g. humid days the larger volume of air is gonna work against you, when the air is cold and dense, its gonna work for you. The stock ones are gonna give you more linear performance. Sell it on Ebay, if you don't care!

I'm not following.

I'm thinking regardless of the conditions outside, stock throttle body vs. accufab, more air = more power. (power gains are small but still there, bigger gains with FI applications)

The more hot air you engine uses, the more its gonna hurt performance. You never here guys talking about a larger TB and Plenum will hurt perfomance, and or larger lower intake. The only way the performance would be consistant w/this combo is if you get forced induction. This why I don't like to drive during the day in the summer. Heat index is a muther, and slows the car down dramatically vs. stock.

It is the density of the air, thus the amount of oxygen you get in that affects your performance. When it is warmer out no matter what your setup you will lose power I agree. Air is less dense when it is warmer out. But the aftermarket TB will flow more air at the same temp than the stock TB and get more oxygen into the combustion chambers. Comparing stock TB to aftermarket at the same temperature the aftermarket will outperform the stock TB on the dyno regardless if it is FI or just bolton.

Granted the TB only counts for a couple hp, it will still make a positive difference compared to stock irregardless of temp.

and humid my car is slower than %#&? . Theres nuthin better than
