I can work on a car all day as long as i'm upgrading something. When it comes time to FIX something, that's when i get tired of doing it. I get sick of trouble shooting things, sick of chasing gremlins, sick of doing jobs over and over. I still love tinkering when i buy something new but that's mostly because i want to see the pay off from running new parts.

I'm 69 next month and have been swinging wrenches and drivng truck (Retired Trucker now) for quite awhile,
I love my Mustangs and still love the feeling I get when I'm in them. (Foxes)
With 3 foxes in the yard last year I wondered why am I wrenching all these bloody cars and a boat to boot.
Sold the boat, sold the 81 3.3 Fox coupe and the other 81 fox parts car.
Kept the 88 Fox and my winter car,Momma's vibe and now I'm much happier, less stressed and get more time in the 88 followng my nose down the highway.
LOVE IT !!!!
As you get older you need better tools to compensate for lack of desire and the abundance of lazyness.
4 post car storage lift would be nice.

Just turned 41 and I can relate.Oh my goodness, you just nailed it. Unfortunately it's been quite a while since I upgraded anything on either car. The only time I'm under the hood is to check fluids or fix something. When something does go wrong I'm thankful that I have two decades of familiarity to fall back on when troubleshooting.I can work on a car all day as long as i'm upgrading something. Right there with you. I don't mind so much working under the hood. Once I drag myself out to the garage I always end up enjoying the "me time". Still, aside from changing the oil it is a serious drag having to crawl underneath. I can't say I feel any soreness but it's still a PITA.It started for me around 40. I still enjoy working on the cars, but now I have to psych myself up to do it and I'm usually sore as hell the next day from bending over the engine or crawling under the car all day.
The cool part about it is that for all of our complaining not person has mentioned getting rid of their car.You old guys just like complaining. but I guess I wouldn't know, everything on my Fox is fun for me since I just turned 14.![]()
