mixed breed tech forum

How is a mix breed swap any different from a big block 460 swap, or an 03/04 cobra swap, or a Coyote 5.0 swap? Swapping an LSx is no different than any of those swaps.

Who cares who makes the engine, point is you are taking an engine that didn't come in the car and swapping it in and there will be inherent difficulties from needing to understand wiring and such.

I've always felt we needed an "engine swap" board...would be ironic if this thread creates one

The difference is that some people are brand loyal. Whether anybody believes that to be right or wrong, that's how it is. IMHO, until there is an official statement or movement on this website that says otherwise, brand loyalists have every right to flame mix breed swap threads.

The terms of service say nothing about ford only powerplants, they do say that imflamitory posts will be flagged and people can get banned from them, the flaming is unneccesary and just makes the poster look like a moron

Fair point, but in the case of suspension tech, it obviously does pertain directly to the Ford Fox Mustang. A thread on setting up the fuel rails on an LSX that just happens to be in a Fox doesn't really have any place in this section of the forum.

Why not? It has everything to do with a fox mustang(just because you dont like the motor dosent make it irrelevant), and this is the section for fox mustangs. Would you have a problem with a thread on how to set up fuel rails on a modular motor in a fox mustang? I do not like modualr motors, but you dont see me going and telling people they suck and are an idiot for putting an underpowered, overcomplicated motor where a good pushrod powerplant was...

The more info the better, there is not a whole lot of activity in this section as it is, so why start another subforum that is just going to take attention away from this one?

I wouldn't do it myself but the LQ9 and 5.3 swaps in just about anything is the cheapest ways to go fast. The Fox is a great platform for racing, and those motors are great for racing. They go together well. The ford 9 inch rear has been used in chevy cars for years. It is a great option for them and I see the LSwhatever swaps becoming a great option for racers. Like it or not you can't deny the results.

Wonder if LS1tech has a group of people who flame guys for using ford 9"s...god forbid you mix breeds.
Not trying to be a dick, I respect and understand brand loyalty but at some point, it's a C-A-R. This LSx stuff has almost turned into some kind of book burning rally for ford purists

Don't get me wrong, I've slowly developed a lot of respect for the LS engines, and I've toyed with the idea of picking up a cheap S10 and dropping in a cammed 5.3L (though the wife would murder me and make it look like an accident if I started one more car project, haha). If money wasn't an object and I had one more garage bay, there would very likely be an LS powered something in there.

I'm just still not 100% on board with mix breed swaps of ANY kind, so I can at least sympathize with the loyalists.

Well, my knee jerk reaction would be to ask why the thread starter didn't post in the appropriate modular engine section.

Haha truth. :hide:

Well if youreally wanna get in depth, look at it this way.

You have an aftermarket Dart based 302 block
you have aftermarket AFR Heads
" " " Cam and valvetrain..... and so on and so on...

What Ford part is there? Save for the basic design, there is nothing Ford about it.

Same for the LSx. Aftermarket blocks.... blah blah blah... same thing applies.

People just need to get over the Ford only in a Ford and get with the times. It is going to happen, and crying about it will do nothing but start threads like these.

Irony?

Coming from the biggest hypocrite on this forum.

the only thing ironic is you are the guy that said how unreliable fox mustangs were, then made a 5 hour trip home with it having no problems... then you still say if you need to be somewhere you wouldnt trust the car to get you there? I think a five hour trip pretty much proves the fact of reliability dosent it.

My comment about Fox's being unreliable was based on the fact that they're generally beat on most of their lives and that even the youngest ones are over 19-years-old now. This logic applies to any old sports car, not just Fox bodies.

And making one, 5-hour trip with one doesn't prove reliability....it proves I was willing to roll the dice and beat the odds. I also had my low mileage F150 acting as a chase vehicle just in case. So I was getting home no matter what happened. I won't be making long trips in my Fox a habit. Not if I don't have to.

That's not being a hypocrite, it's using common sense.

i found this chevy in a ford and thought a few on here may enjoy it!lol

If you're "brand loyal" and "bleed Ford Blue" then it's just proof that Ford's marketing division has done it's job and they bought you. ;) I was all about Ford, then went Chevy, now kind of inching back to Ford. Depends on what it is. With that being said.... I'll be damned if you catch me in a Toyota. Obama loving communist forien car company. :chair:
