It's only an inch or two. What's the big deal?

I may have asked already, but the dead brain cells aren't responding.. So, I'ma throw this out there.

Every time I look at wheels lately this one keeps jumping out at me for some reason. Sometimes it looks really good to me, and then I'm not real sure. I'm looking probably at a set of 18X9, 18X10's for the calypso..

Opinions?

This one also fits the bill for being A) black.. and B) not on every other car out there, which is what I'm interested in..

I don't know about the fake knock offs on the first set. Can you get the ones in the second pic with a polished lip?

No, I don't think so, although I've shifted from wanting a polished lip to black after seeing a car my color with black wheels... It looked really good to me.

I think most cars need the benefit of the shiny as opposed to a black set of wheels. As expensive as they are, when they're black, they become invisible as to their differences. In other words, a black set of FR 500's seem no different than a black set of Pony R's unless you are more than a casual observer.

No offense to people with black rims but they are just way too hard to see. At night nobody will know what rim it is other than it's something in black. I like both rims posted above but would be better in another color.

I used to agree with both of these opinions, as far as all black wheels went. My favorites were black with a polished lip. I've been trying to find the video, but I saw one a member posted of some burnouts at a dyno day event that featured a calypso notchback with black terminator wheels and to me it just looked wicked. It contrasted the green paint, yet tied in with the black window trim and was just sweet to me... wish I could find a pic of that car...

This isn't it, bt it gives you an idea. I know everybody doesn't like the look. I didn't either until I saw the car I mentioned above..

To say I love these wheels would be a gross understatement. I thought they only came in 19s though? At any rate, they look great on that car. But, I had the 18x9 Saleens on mine and they rubbed like chubby thighs, needed to roll my fenders.

I will have those about as soon as I win the lottery... eventually.

I just cant seem to get into the all black rims. I got black fr500's with a polished lip on my 99 and I like it but I'm pretty sure I couldnt go for it if they were all black plus the black is not a matte or flat finish. I think it needs the accent of the polished lip so your eye actually is drawn to the rim a little. Rims are expensive I want people to notice mine. Which is why I went with the chrome anniversary wheels on my t top. I got the fr500's for $600 from a guy with new tires so I couldnt pass it up but they werent originally what I was looking for. For some reason though it does seem to me black rims do look good on red cars more so than any other.
