New To The Forum

Hey all my name is Jason. I recently purchased a 68 with a recently rebuilt 289 and lots of new parts. Here is a link to the craigslist ad.

I am completely new to mustangs. I am looking to make this one into a good daily driver and was wondering what upgrades and kits you guys would suggest? I was thinking along the lines of disc brakes front and rear, efi, then an overdrive tranny. Just wanting to get some professional opinions. Thanks!

#2>Export brace to replace the thin, stock sheet metal shock tower braces. This helps to add rigidity to the upper front suspension and car in general. An upgraded under engine crossmember that ties the lower control arm bolts/mounting points together works well, to stiffen the lower suspension, hand in hand with the export brace. Adding a Monte Carlo bar adds to these other two items.
#3>IMHO, front disc brakes are a big plus but discs on the rear are OK, but not really a necessity. Although, the rear discs are certainly a no-brainer if you decide on an Explorer 8.8" rear for the trac-loc and gears to go with an overdrive transmission swap.
#4>As far as the front disc conversion there are MANY options available. I suggest that before deciding which way to go, you fully inspect, check and analyze all steering and front end suspension parts/components. If only a few or none of the parts are worn/need replacement, I would opt to keep it simple. If many or all wear items need replacement, I would look into possible suspension/steering upgrades to go with/help your choice for the brakes.
#5>At the very least the "Shelby Drop" if not already done, is almost mandatory for improving handling for modern tires and driving. While doing the drop, roller spring perches are a nice addition while its already apart. Read about the "Shelby Drop" and Mustang suspension/steering here:

couldnt say it better than gene. i will make one addition though, while rear disc brakes are not needed, better rear braking is, and big drums are a great economical addition. master power brakes has an 11" drum conversion that will do you quite well.
