Here,.....Come over here and I'll bite the hell out of you!

I mean look at him.......Just how "un-scary" could you possibly be when you're slow, low and lazy?
Looks like he just finds the biggest thing that'll fit in his mouth, and it just goes straight in,...no chewing involved. Perfect for swallowing eggs...whole.

They look like they'd make perfect swimming pool torpedoes,......except the part that they're venemous.
There is that caveat

Ok, blocking out the expensive shiny red primer I put on doby several months ago.

Got to admit, that Sikkens clear still looks stunning, if it weren't for that whole wrong color thing.....

Anyhow, I'm using dry 800 grit sandpaper and several different blocks. Here's some early pics:

And when we say " blocking", I'm assuming that is done dry, with a xxx" long dura block, and 320g paper.

What keeps it from turning into a loaded up piece of junk after using it a minute?
These panels are too little for that big block (I like the durablocks, btw, I'm using one of their smaller ones that I trimmed a little).

Look up a few posts and you'll see the three I'm using. I have the one 12" wooden handled block that I've had for ever, a small flat durablock that is about four inches long, and a flexible (not soft) block.

I have some 3m spray adhesive that I spray on the back side of the paper before I put it on the block. Works real well at keeping it in place. I just use a very light coat of the glue. It doesn't seem to build up on the block except for a small amount that I clean off at the end of the day with lacquer thinner.

When you say a loaded up piece of junk, are you referring to my above solution or do you mean building up with sanding residue from the painted surface I'm blocking?

Plus, at this stage of the main body, since it was already painted with the wrong color once, I'm blocking with dry 800 grit so I won't have to put any sealer back over the body.

The engine bay is being sanded with 320 grit though. I will seal it prior to laying out the color and clear. Those scratches are far too heavy to not seal first.

Ok, I'm talking about me, trying to use 320 dry in primer, and it loads the paper up in 30 sec or less. Then I gotta stop, and take a wire brush to the paper to clean it off. There's gotta be a better way short of wetsanding

I get the same problem at times Mike. Usually it's because I'm trying to rush the primer.

Take Doby for example though, the clear is doing exactly what you are saying with the 800 grit. I have a red scotchbrite with me to wipe the paper.

You're kind of stuck though Mike. When it loads up like that, it usually means that you are using too fine of a grit. The material coming off can't get out of the way of itself and balls up.

Different primers from different manufactures wil do different things along this line. Even if you let the primer catalyze for what seems an exorbitant amount of time, it can still do that.

I'm assuming you will lay down a sealer first when you go to paint, right? If so, just block out the car with 220-240 grit and then DA the panels with 320 grit to help remove the criss/cross scratches from blocking. DA lightly and don't lift it on its edges (keep it as flat as possible).

It's a very hoppy beer, good though. Kind of a piney scent to it (cascade hops). Strong hops, but won't gag you.

I've been playing around with hoppy beers lately, thinking I'm re-acquiring my taste for them.

It seems to be best as a redneck martini.

Get this: I'm in a bar tonight and everybody was doing the typical round of weanie whiskey (aka Fireball).
Not me mind you, I believe that cinnamon flavored whiskey is a pacifier for those that shouldn't be otherwise drinking whiskey.

A guy sits down and orders a drink, and the waitress brings out a lowball glass filled with whiskey. I asked why it was so full and dude says that it's mixed with pickle juice. Let me say that again,......it's a shot of whiskey mixed with pickle juice.

I asked him why he was doing that, and he said that it took away the burn, and that I should try it. I took a sip.

:puke:WTF????

So,.....I get home, and check out what the hell was going on with whiskey now days that bartenders were mixing whiskey with pickle juice.

They aren't. This bone head had the drink a little confused.

The pickle juice is supposed to be a chaser. Name your poison as far as the whiskey is concerned, and it get's poured into it's own shot glass. Another shot glass gets filled with PJ. The PJ serves to neutralize the burn, and somewhat cleanses away the taste of the whiskey shot.

The funny part was Ol dude ordered a second glass of pickle whiskey.

Some people.:nonono:

If you don't like the taste of whiskey.....Don't drink whiskey.

I shudder just thinking about it...

A good whiskey should not be tarnished. I drink mine straight but I will forgive the use of 1 ice cube.

What a pu**y. If you can't handle the "burn" and/or don't like the taste...wtf order/drink it? I don't drink whiskey anymore myself. But not for those reasons. And pickle juice? I'd rather gargle glass

Kind of odd....

I like pickle juice, mind you. I can drink it straight. It makes a tasty Popsicle! Always have enjoyed the flavor, especially a zesty kosher dill juice.

I sweat buckets when it heats up in the summer, it's like my body craves it then. I assume it's the salt my body is craving. I've always liked sour things and savory flavors, it's kind of a mix. Yum!

All that said, WTF. WHO IN THE FCK CAME UP WITH SUCH AN IDIOT IDEA?!

Whiskey making is an art! Appreciating the detailed and subtle flavors of what a master distiller has created is an art. Wether it's a single malt, blended, single casket, bourbon, scotch, Canadian, Irish, etc....

But, Old Grandad will get you messed up quick if that's your goal, I guess.

I suppose my oldest kids already know about this nasty drink. I'll have to ask them about it.

I dig what you say Mike, if you don't like the flavor of whiskey, why drink it. If you want something that burns, ask Richard Pryor for advice on that drink, huh?
