Beers Of Stangnet

Well, in the spirit of the drinking holiday this weekend, I obtained the following...all for or from a dinner party I had at my place on Saturday evening:

- Guinness stout; mostly needed it for a recipe I was making
- Killian's Irish Red; we went through all but one of the 6-pack on Saturday alone
- Heavy Seas Loose Cannon IPA
- DuClaw's Devil's Milk (a barley wine with somewhere around 10% ABV)

Haven't had a chance to crack into the Devil's Milk yet but I think I've had that before. I did have a Loose Cannon last night and it was like most other IPAs. I've had that before as well. The Killian's and Guinness...well, I think we all know about those. I wanted to get Sam Adams Irish Red, but the local beer store did not have it.

Alright guys, here's a new one for me. I haven't popped it open yet, I want to wait till after lunch. A guy has to have standards, right? It says bourbon on the label, it must be good! IMG_2941.webp

You didn't seriously think I was going to wait, did you?

It's a Belgian beer, slightly sour. The bourbon flavor does help it though. I'm not a big fan of saisons and the sort. I'll be able to help finish drinking it though in case you get worried.:D

That's a big beer! Almost 12%. Kudos to finishing that task. Quadruples are quite different from saisons and are a little sweet for my tastes. That beer there is an outstanding example though.
Yeah they are, I apologize for the grouping.

It's the whole Belgian sour fermentation thing that imparts a flavor that isn't my style so much. I'm more of a barleywine sort of guy. I like the malty flavor a lot with a little hops to give it a bite.

It is a big beer, I'm feeling quite pleasant at the moment and my allergies don't seem to bother me quite as much now!:D

I fell in love with sours a few years ago, it's been an expensive habit. Quads aren't sour by style, but the cherries added to the Boulevard certainly bring out some tart characteristics.

Barleywines eh? You sir, are serious business!

Man, I kinda forgot about this. I picked up a 6-pack earlier this week of a hefeweizen. It came in cans and it was a local brew based out of Cambridge MD (I think). I can't remember exactly what it was now...recycling came on Friday so I can't even go check the spent cans. It had been a while since I've had any beer at all prior to that.
