Okay everyone I have a 1994 GT 5 speed.
About a month after I got it a noise formed that I could manipulate if I actuated my clutch. With my clutch Pedal at the floor no noise but when the pedal was up and my clitch was engaged there was a squeak. It got worse, people told me different things they thought it could be. What made most sense was my TOB, as the sound started sounding like a comoletley trashed bearing. So I replace my TOB. It still makes the same noise. Which sounds like a bearing trashed out and grinding. It now makes a clank sound as if gear space is being made up. I noticed my U joints had play when I changed my throw out bearing. I'm thinking it is either my clutch, bearings in trans, or the U joints any input would be greatly appreciated!

First, a really bad TOB will transmit "feel" all the way back into the clutch pedal. So, initially, from your descriptions, I think I would have looked elsewhere.

Bad U-joints will rarely be "felt" up front, where the clutch is. Did you inspect the transmission input shaft retainer, the part on which the TOB riders? OEM is made of aluminum; they get chewed up by the TOB sliding on them, make noise, feel rough. Good replacement retainers are made of steel.

Bad bearing(s) in trans will rumble when the eng. is idling, trans. in neutral. Do you have that?

Does clutch operation feel normal? No grab, slip, or roughness as it engages? Need more concise description of the noise. Squeak, grinding, clank, are greatly differing descriptions. imp

The Input shaft bearing retainer is good no grooves nice and smooth. I don't exactly hear noise up at clutch, more just through shifter hole.

Before the noise was completely controlled by clutch. It has started a faint squeak at idle in neutral when clutch is engaged. But no rumble.

My clutch op feels good. when I come off the clutch to engage I hear a clink click, like gear space is being made up. Once clutch is fully engaged it makes a grinding noise in a centipital type of sound. It either drownds out or goes away at higher rpm. And more gas makes it louder until higher rpm. Clutch still grabs.

I'm going to move your thread to the '79-'95 tech subforum. You'll get more people to jump in. Not that @imp can't help, he's a really smart guy with lots of experience. Just the chance someone else had already been through this.

Lets jack the back of the car up and put jack stands under the axel tubes, spin the wheels by hand, turn the wheels forward and backwards just enought to see if it makes any noise, do this in neutral and with transmission in gear, you can try starting the car, put in gear and spin it that way too but block the fromt wheels and don't spin it to the moon, crashing the car and/or getting hurt will get you booted from the site.:stick:

@karthief
Was there, did it (with 4X4), heavily ridiculed by forum, even though I warned of the safety issue, just as you did.

Treading on thin ice. imp

I've done that on vehicles before I'll give it a try.
