Last night was a very bad night for me. Woke up at 3:30am with a mild headache ( the water to tequila ratio from the night before clearly to blame)...I laid there wondering what the hell time it was,..all while the mild headache grows increasingply more annoying.
I managed to last till about 4:30 before I just give up trying to sleep, and get up.

There is evidence on this forum that I was prowling around in the predawn hours...all you have to do is check the time line of my comments.

I sat around drinking coffee for an hour or so,...dicked around with my new galaxy phone. ( remember, I said I was gonna do something about the suck assed camera on the old phone.....well I did)

By 6 I'm downstairs...trying to figure out what I can quietly accomplish for the next couple of hours. The bedroom is directly above the monster, and just because I'm up stupidly early with what can only be the direct result of having too much to drink, doesn't mean that I have full freedom to bang and clang around whilst the sleeping beauty softly snores above.

I have to pitter pat.

Which pretty much dooms me to get little of nothing done.

Granted then,...it's no big deal....I found the box that my new 12v-120v inverter was in, found a place to hide/wire it in, and fitted the thing in place. Whether or not I'll ever need a 120 v outlet in this car will have to wait to know, but I do know I'll need at least one of the two USB charging ports that are built into the thing.

The LJK...He's so been hounding me to make some noise...unfortunately, there's a fairly significant rattle somewhere back there, I'm gonna have to take him back out and see wtf.

And the solutions for getting stupid with a step bit.

I really can't tell where you mounted that inverter but I used one in the dump truck to power a computer, can't recall how many watts but that dude got quite warm and I think it's not a good idea to be in contact with the carpet, I built a bracket to mount under the dash but I was not trying to hide it, mine was fairly large in size and had a small fan inside. I think. It was like 5 years ago.

My solution was to use an auxiliary line from the engine bay battery, run it through the firewall grommet as before, and crimp up an Australian "Andersons SB50" block connector from the main battery.Mainly because I hate big high amperage alternators.

Although, I just about didn't get it hooked up

without the help of Corporate America to operate my German/Scottish decent Clamp...

Clamp_international.jpg

I was then able to run a small 12v 55a-h battery behind the driver in a small marine case in the back,

buffered with my long suffering 1000w 240 v inverter, and run everything else.

1. My trusty 240 volt Tower computer behind the passenger seat with

2. its Logitech Web Cam/ Droid Cam,

3. external remote camera

4. and expansion drive hookups so I never lost any data

5. Large 240 volt supply 17" TV screen (So I could view stuff using Droid Cam)

6. Small 12v 7" mini screen

7. My cell phone on charge

8. My Tablet on charge

9. My hot spot internet device on charge

10 & 11 And run my two 55 watt Loopy lights (light bars)....able to have one loopy light swapped for my old Four Eyed Pride Spot lamp asbmly

3 weeks ago I sent a paper template to Cometic to have a valve cover gasket made. I wanted to be done with making these things by hand, and I wanted the security of having an extra one on hand.

Just in case.

After two weeks of nothing, I call them to inquire. They don't even know it's there. After talking to the guy, he looks me up by name, and finds the box that has the template still rolled up inside it.

Huh,....Guess you guys figured you'd open it when things got a little slow then?

He tells me he'll have an answer for me by Friday ( last Friday) or by Monday at the latest. I hear from them today.
Wants to build it out of 1/8" thick cork, tells me that it'll be $61.45.
"Ok then, how much for an additional one" I ask, thinking that the first one includes a setup fee.
"$61.45" comes the reply.

"What? It's 61.45 each? For a single gasket, Everytime I need a new one?"
"That's correct sir"

" I'm gonna have to pass......it really has to be a real pain in my ass before I'll pay 61 dollars for a FREAKIN VALVE COVER GASKET!!!"

So,...guess I'm cutting em out by hand.....
Until the end of time.

When we last talked about the car, I was babysitting a small Asian child..Over the last couple of days, I've went downstairs and spent a couple of hours with him. Today I took him and his car seat out of the car, and put him on the floor again.

Besides,.....I needed to remove the boards he sits on so I can find the source of a rattle.
image.jpeg

The metal shroud was flapping around, although I can't say that was what is rattling. Getting it out of there required that I destroy it, and this is just after starting to do that.
But now it's gone.

And that leaves a big assed open space behind, and open into the trunk. Potentially forcing me to partition it off.

And guess what?

The rattle is still there.

Time to build a day care for the little Japanese kid and all his friends. And by that-I mean build a sub wall and use all that new found trunk space as the cabinet :p
It makes sense to me that I at least put a backer on those braces. Coming to terms with that means I'll have to remove more of that frame so that I can get a back glued and screwed on it though.

And here I thought I was going forward.

Is it maybe the bracing on the trunk lid? Or boot for our down under friend.
does your trunk lid (boot) have those long rods for springs to hold the lid up? They may be rattling. Annoying little buggers.
I use the same struts to lift the trunk lid that everybody uses for their hoods ( albeit with much less lift pressure) Those torsion rods left the day I first laid a sawzall on the inner wheel tubs when I mini tubbed this thing.

Trunk was not called a boot by Ford Australia,

its just a cavernous space operated by a KnobE.

I think I shoulda built this thing on some social media website as well. I'd probably get paid to blather on about the box shaped car stereo stuff shaped like a car seat by now.

I know that regular 12 are not looking in enough to generate between 200-2500 page views daily here alone, so i figured I'd mark it just to see. It's no surprise really, with as many tags as Noobz has given this thread, somebody looking for a Australian sewing machine repair tip would likely stumble onto it.
