Fox Retro guages

I just saw this a minute or 2 ago but didn't look at the price or anything. $900 is a little out of my price range right now, but I DO like it.....

I like the prospect of having OE-looking gauges, and having accurate sending units and a temp or oil pressure gauge that actually reads correctly.

I wish the speedo was 120MPH o 140MPH like stock though. 160MPH is a little unrealistic for most people.

There have been a number of new digital dashes popping up. I realize this one isn't fully digital, but it's nice for those who want to look period correct, but want to replace a dying cluster with something a bit more modern. If oyu go aftermarket ECU, without a question there are other dash panels you should be looking at instead.

I'm certainly not going to complain about LMR actually developing new things for the fox body.

My wishlist would be to create a hybrid style panel. OE looking modern gauges on the side, with a large digital screen in the middle. Something like this

I love it. I’ve buried the stock 140 mph needle and have wondered what my car actually has in it (gotta love the open spaces of IA)... Plus, my tach is off quite a bit at higher RPMs. If this cluster reads more accurately than stock, I may just go for it. Not sure how to know that though.

PS: Apparently I’m not “most people” ;)

Ha That's awesome.

When I was younger, hitting 120+ was a common occurance and no big deal to me. These days, my driving has become a bit more tame. I couldn't tell you the last time I went about 80MPH in the fox and I think 95-100 is the most I've done in the DD. We just don't have the room to really get up to speed. The roads are curvy since they follow 1600's farm trails, and too many cars on the road.

With tires speed rated for much less, I will not be testing top speed soon. But it would be very interesting to see what that number is without going to the Silver State Classic or Sandhills Open Road Challenge.

I don't think I've ever hit 120 in my Mustang. Now, hitting 90-95 mph in my Tacoma is a daily occurrence on Interstate 40 driving to work, just to keep up with the traffic.

This is what I miss most about Iowa. Being able to make it 60 miles in under an hour. Sometimes it takes over an hour to get just 15 miles here. So frustrating! I guess it would help if everyone knew you could turn left on red from a one way to another one way.....

I have, however, pegged the 120 speedometer in my II on highway 20. Broke a belt in one of my tires at that time too - that was fun!!

I was prepared to hate it when I read the title, but oddly enough, I don't.
I like the factory look. Space age setups don't look right In a fox interior and Florida 5.0 setups look too racecarish for my taste.

I like how it keeps the factory look but since it should give you better accuracy why not mark the temp and oil pressure
gauges with some graduated numbers.
After spending $900 your still only going to be able to see what letter in " Normal " your gauge is pointing at,
no real temp or pressure reading.
Unless it somehow can show that in the digital display portion ?

not clearly shown, but the screen under the tach can cycle through various digital readouts. I saw tach, clock and assume it can also show temp and oil pressure.

I'm really hoping the aftermarket opens up with more customizable LCD displays. Even the Holley one is expensive and limited. I think $900 for a factory looking instrument cluster is a bit much.

I wouldn't get too wrapped around the wire about the speed limitation on the speedometer. Anything past 120mph, and you aren't looking at the speedometer much anyway. I will admit that I did do 170mph on a public road when I was young and lacked judgement. It wasn't even a good road, and it was a really stupid thing to do.

I like it. I know it's expensive, but I would be a buyer at some point. I agree with some of the other posters in that a more "modern" cluster just doesn't look right in a fox.

i think that’s what my hesitation is with some of the digital clusters out there now. I want modern touches, except I don’t want it to actually look too modern.

even if I went aftermarket ECU, I’d want a small tablet I can remove to display info, but the main cluster I’d want to remain original looking.

if I did a 4.6 or coyote swap I’d even consider something like this. I just wish I could tweak it a tad
