I think the problem for Kevin on that model is he simply will not allow less than perfect paint and body to leave his shop like that, which would put the roller out of the price range most people would want to spend. Then there's the wait list he already has so no time. I'm sure there's a market for it for other "builders" but I can't see Kevin doing that.

Yeah, he's got a full plate already. Just a random thought as I'm looking at that old Fox get new life.

The question is......do you really want to spend the time without the car?
Our shop took a year to 'restore ' a first gen mustang, that's back 'in the day'.
I would think that you'd wait about 2-3 years for a Kevin level repaint.

I think you miss the point...

Cars are just [done] how I described and listed for sale. No engine or drivetrain. Like buying a kit car with no engine, already assembled... sorta.

You don't send [your] car in. It's the inventory of whomever does this. They just buy the thing, do the stuff, and sell it. The buyer has no idea whatsoever how long this job was milked before being sold.

I realize that this is not what you do but this and [all] of your threads provoked a thought:


A dude that buys Fox/SN95 Stangs, strips them all down, does all the bodywork, paint, glass, and trim, and that's it... Inside has 3 pedals (even if it started as an auto), a steering wheel, door and window handles and gets sold that way.

Some el-cheapo wheels and tires, OEM style shocks and control arms (or maybe LCAs like MM that are good in [all] scenarios), OEM style brakes and 5-lug.


I dunno. It seems like there would be a [huge] market for something like that for peeps that want to do projects but like me, can't do paint and body worth a flyin'-fook.

Thats a great idea for someone to do. Personally, I still love working with customers building their cars. Granted out of 25 jobs…I may take 1 of them in…And the owner and I have to be on the same page to start. Nothing makes me happier than when a guy who bought his car new tells me the work Ive done is way nicer than when it was new.

Man…just been really busy on customer builds. Spending all my personal project time on them but I have some progress on my 93 calypso notch that I’ll post up

Yeah, most pics don't do justice to paint colors, gotta see in person to really appreciate a custom color.
