You should swap the bearing retainer. Yours looks like ass in the image.

I don't recall it being very hard.

It all looks like ass right now.

It's covered in oil. Needs a good cleaning. Imma see what it looks like after before spending more dollars.

Last time I took dirty engine items to the car wash the owner was there.. Told me to take my stuff elsewhere....

Ordered passenger side floor pan. A bunch of urethane parts. There's more to come.

Car wash pressure washer did a pretty good job on the bellhousing. Still some areas I need to hit with the brass brush but it's WAY better.

Oh. And. Sigh.

Ordered a new bearing retainer.

Blocking plate and flywheel installed. New ARP bolts torqued to spec. I RTVd the plate to the block. Picked up some ¾" bolts to hold it temporarily while the RTV sets up. I figured that'd make it way easier to install the bellhousing and put some extra schmuts behind the back of the oil pan.

Next project is the hole in the floor. Got a new floor pan there's only two bad spots so I'm just going to cut those out rather than deal with the entire subframe structure. I'll cut it back to the subframe and weld to it.

This isn't my first rodeo. Hah.

Everything went together perfectly. The throwout bearing looks wonky because I slid it all the way to the inside of the retainer so it'd stay in place while I did everything else.

New motor mounts will be here tomorrow. If I'm this far in, I want to make sure everything is right.

Pulling stuff apart. The cooling fan was straight cracked in half but still on the clutch. The power steering can't leak if it's not attached. Haven't opened the cooling system yet. Trying ot hold off on that till the new shows up so I can do the radiator and AC condenser at the same time.
