1982 Mustang GL 5.0 single to dual exhaust conversion

I bought a used set of headers and pipes with mufflers for my '82 stang with 302 engine. They were on a 1984 Capri with the same engine.
I need the tailpipes because I was not sold the tailpipes.

Who has any experience with tailpipes? I'm not looking for fancy stainless or anything, just basic exhaust.

I have read that exhaust for years 86-93 will work for my application since they are all Foxbodies.

I am looking at Walker exhaust products. When I call around, the local parts stores give me part number 45903. When I look that up, it's the LEFT side tailpipe.
I looked online and I see that 45902 is the RIGHT side.

My question: do I get 2x the LEFT tailpipe like the local shops here tell me? or do I get 1x left and 1x right?
Does anyone know what I need? I will need to install hangers, that's ok, I'm just looking at ordering the tailpipes for now.

I just want the proper clearance and angles, I am aware that I may have to do some modifications.

Right for right side, left for the left side, the parts store counter person only sees what's on the computer screen, they are not paid to really think. Others just don't care.
I think you'll have to deal with a possible brake line to rear axle issue, maybe not, here @limp just worked through this.

That's what I was thinking, but 2 local stores and one online store has said the same thing, only giving me the part number for the left side.

I had to upgrade my fuel line also.. Its too close to the pass side exhaust pipe as is... At least in my opinion it was..

You will have to mount the pass side rear hanger for the tailpipe also... I had to buy a 90 degree drill to do that

yes, they would, but being in Canada, I can get the same from Walker online in Canada for cheaper. I just need to make sure I order the right parts.

You are also going to need a “double hump” cross member to provide clearance for the dual exhaust.

Any tail pipes 85 thru 93 should fit, you're not gonna find a parts store or online that will give you duel exhaust parts because that year didn't have duels, unless they think about it but they prolly won't.

Which part of Canada are you in? Another option would be check out FB and see if you can pick up a pair of OEM tailpipes. I picked up a pair a couple years ago for less than $50 for the pair. Also got a pair of stainless tips as well - both stock 2.25" size.

I ordered those same part #'s... yes that's them and they polish up nice too. I found them cheapest on autozone and with coupon that they still have, it was like $125 shipped for both pipes.

Changing over from single exhaust to dual on my 83 mustang..
Had to change over the brake lines and wondering if the fuel lines route differently at the fuel tank with the Fuel Injected cars??
While setting the rear tailpipe on the pass side, it seems like the fuel lines are a bit close??
Tried to find some pics online but nothing came up that I could use..
Fuel tanks seem to have the same basic sizing and the hole in the " high " side seems to be the same in all of the fox bodies
Any help here..... TY

You will also need to replace or relocate your brake line. The passenger side muffler hanger mounts where the brake line mounts. LMR sells a kit. You will need to get creative with the bracket that mounts to the rear diff, if you are still using the factory 7.5 inch rear end. If you are using the 8.8 inch rear, the bracket will bolt right up and have the proper orientation. I made the bracket work with my 7.5 inch rear. There is a brake line kit for either drum or disc rear brakes.

The updated brake line bracket rivets to the " floor" above the rear end.. The holes to use were in my 83 already, maybe ford just used them on the later models... Its ALOT easier to rivet this bracket in place with the rear end out..... You won't have to buy the $100 long nose pop rivet gun like I did...
