Okay with that being said what you just said now for me it's just now I had to do some homework to see if there is one at any salvage yards near me or like you said I know you said copart and stuff like that but I really have to see you know if I want to go that route versus just going ahead and spend $250 to 300 and buy an Sct and get the pigtail harness for 38 bucks.2001-2004 have the 90mm MAF. Just me but I would get one from a salvage yard as you know its the real deal. I pulled both of my 80mm units from 2000 GT's just to make sure they were OEM and the mass transfer functions my tuner had would be spot on.
So I will have to splice the lightnings into my pigtail wiring?Nope. Just use the factory Lightning pigtail and use this diagram:

The two wires on the outside are for the internal IAT (intake air temperature sensor). You can use these two wires if you want your tuner to use this IAT vs. the one on the intake.
GotchaYes and yes. This is what mine looks like. I just depinned the outer two wires but you could just tape them up in the harness.

Which one does the vortec use? It's either going to be a lightning meter or an SctYes. So long as you have a good transfer function to go along with it.
You do not need a meter that calibrated to any particular ECU or injector if you are digitally tuning.
Make sure you are getting a meter that is the correct: Inlet side MAF or outlet side MAF depending on your setup. I believe the Procharger kit uses an inlet side MAF and not a blow-through.
On carpart they do not have a listing for mass air meter and the closest thing is air cleaner assembly. Without being able to call them until Monday do you think that's along the lines of what that would be?Yes and yes. This is what mine looks like. I just depinned the outer two wires but you could just tape them up in the harness.

Sorry I'm not putting everything in one post but as I am reading and doing a little research I'm thinking of other things to ask lol. So I was reading on one forum where somebody replaced the mass air meter on a lightning because of some issues or something like that so that's another thing I have to think about when buying a used meter from a junkyard is will it be good or not so I might be better off just getting a new Sct.....Yes and yes. This is what mine looks like. I just depinned the outer two wires but you could just tape them up in the harness.

There isn't any drawback to having say a ba 2600 with around $400 to the wheels with a blower is there? With a stock LMAF on the inlet side of a Procharger, I would be shooting for no more than 400ish RWHP.
Lightning 90 mm will usually carry a healthy street combo into the ~400–450 rwhp window before hitting 5 V at the top of the rev range. That’s the practical point where tuners start seeing it peg. If you want more headroom without changing to a different style of sensor, an SCT BA2600/BA3000 is the straightest upgrade path; those are routinely quoted to support ~625–825 rwhp depending on blower type.
If you're going to be at or below that 400-450 HP mark then the stock LMAF will give you the best resolution.

Makes senseIf you already have, 'visions of stroker motors, dancing in your head' then just bite the bullet.
The resolution at your power level will still be very good and you'll have the headroom for later. $150 difference now, is less than buying another meter later and allows you to tune for either combo.![]()
YessirrrI forget you are building a boosted combo. Go with the SCT for all the reasons Noobz has listed.
is it 96 to around 04 ford trucks that have the 6 pin connector or even the 96-04 stangs?Nope. Just use the factory Lightning pigtail and use this diagram:

I also found this while googling earlier. I actually talked to this guy on fb years ago when I was going to do a 351 and he helped with questions. He did the pigtail splice and used the built in IAT so I think I'll go that route too more than likely:Nope. Just use the factory Lightning pigtail and use this diagram:

I'm confirming rather the sct ba 2600 even has the built in IAT. Don at Lasota racing in FL doesn't think it doesI’m no forced induction guru but I would think NA at the MAF or in the tubing to the TB would work and with forced induction it would have to be after the compressor or after the intercooler if one is used.
