I'm joining because there's a lot of info that I would like to access but I'm having a hard time accessing downloads.

Little bit of background on myself and mustangs. I'm more of a GM fanatic but somehow I always end up back to mustangs. First mustang I had was around 2017 when I was stationed in California, it was a 1992 GT, I bought it as a running and driving car and ended up building it for a buddy who wanted it more than me. When the 5.0 and t5 came out, we put in a 408w built out of a roller 351w we pulled from the junk yard and a TKO 500 scored off craigslist. It was a fun car but I didn't get to enjoy it for too long before I sold it to my buddy and moved back home to Iowa. Couple years ago a 2007 Roush convertible popped up on market place in my town, I messaged the guy within 15 minutes of him posting it and brought it home that day. The guy that owned it ended up living less than a block away from me, but had it stored in barn out in the country next to some other cars you'd never expect several miles down a gravel road. I enjoyed that one for a summer and ended up selling it to a young gal across the state, as far as I know she still has it and brings it to shows.

That brings us to current day, right now I'm building a 1988 T-top GT that has been sitting torn apart since the early 2000's. I have a picture of me in high school around 2011 with it in the background of the shop. The owner of the car brought it to the shop in the early 2000's for "restoration/modification's", since then the original business was sold and the car sat in the shop and would periodically be tinkered with by several hands but no real progress ever happened due to a variety of reasons. Recently the owner mentioned something about his daughter going to her senior prom next month. It's kind of a weird thought, but this guy has had this car for longer than his daughter has been alive and he has never driven it, so we're going to try to have it ready by prom. In the past two weeks I have been doing nothing but this mustang, and still have a good long bit to go with assembly of everything. The hardest part is locating parts, and trying to figure out how things go together that were taken apart years ago, by someone else, and shoved in a box, that has been moved multiple times. I'm pretty confident in my ability to get this accomplished and turn key in the short time frame, just trying to find some information to make my life easier.

Thank you for taking the time to read my ramblings.

Needs pics....... :D

Sorry, its been a long 2 months with no time to breath. I'm happy to say the owner of the ttop picked up the car and drove it home today and it will be there for his daughter's prom tomorrow. I do have a couple photos of the ttop. Hard to believe there's under 49 days between the first photo and the second. I also am going to attach a couple through out the process.

Don't let the tint fool you, its got a complete interior. Before and after yet again

Under the hood got some treatment as well, I wish I had better pictures, but I have a mid to early stage of the engine bay while I was working on it and a later stage before hanging the front end. Its a shame because I was excited for how it turned out, so much so it didn't get a hood put on it until this morning. I always kick myself for never taking pictures, and tried hard on this project.

Couple of random process pictures including having to lift the engine to reposition the k member backwards to center the wheels in the wheel openings.

I've had many people tell me over the last month or so they thought they'd never see this car done. I'm glad they got proven wrong. A gentleman that was driving a Roush stopped by this morning to check it out when I had it outside idling and was blown away, he had pictures of it from around a decade ago and never thought this car would see the road again.

There's only been a couple of days I've been away from the car since it started, 2.5 days when it went out for tint and 3 days for when it went to get exhaust and alignment, and 2 days for Easter. Other wise its been researching, hunting for parts, cleaning/detaling parts, and working on it almost every moment available. There's been an easy 400+ hours put into it in the last 7 weeks.

With that, thank you all for the vast amount of knowledge I was able to use to help make this reality. I dont know how tv shows are able to "build" cars in a week or even a month including paint and body, probably a bunch of smoke and mirrors but definitely more than one person spending every waking moment working on it. I'm ready to catch my breath. Thank you.

Great job! Did you start having dreams about being at work?

What year car did the 5 lug rear end come out of? Just asking as the rear wheels stick out a bit further than most but that could just be the wheel offset.

I basically live at work so I was living the dream. Haha My house is less than 40 foot from the back of the shop, the shop is were I feel the most at home though. Lol

Im not 100% what the rear end came out of, it was set in the car in the early to mid 2000s. I assume its a standard fox rear end with a ford racing m-2300-k Cobra disc brake conversion. Luckily I found the manual for that to find part numbers, even though the entire brake system had zero miles on it, all the hoses had a date code of 2003 and the front passenger hose was collapsed.

The rear end has aftermarket adjustable and double adjustable control arms and it definitely has a a set of steep rear gears. The rear wheels dont stick out of the wheel well at all, the customer was very adamant about having them not stick out. I think it has the illusion of poking out because the front end is lowered on coilovers and the rear has stock springs causing you to see more of the tread. We have new lowering springs for the rear, just not installed (we also have the lowering shocks brand new in the package but they're rusty from sitting for decades)

We have a speedway motors wheel wise fitment tool that I used to do all the fitment of the wheels. The fronts are a 17x8.25 +35 and 235 45r17 the rears are a 17x9.75 +25 and 275 40r17. Ideally I was wanting about a +30-35 in the rear to give more tuck, but finding a staggered set up proved difficult. If we would of went with lmr's sve 10th anniversary's they would of stuck out about another 1/4 inch.

Good deal because it looks like an old school car with air shocks and tires sticking out of the wheel wells to me. Getting that rear down an inch or more will definitely help things.

I don't think the SVE anniversary rims stick out, but they do have clearance issues with the quad shock. I'd like to get another set of rims for the project eventually, so let me know if you're interested in these, I'm just a few hours from you down I-80. The tires should be replaced as they're about 10 years old now, but they've not been driven more than a hundred miles in this configuration.

Been so busy with moving and renovations on the new house that I forgot to post about the vert's lack of progress during all of this! See how neglected it is?!

So it's been about a month since we tried to drive it the ~20 miles from my mom's garage to my new garage. The fuel pump apparently died about 5 miles from mom's and a mile or so after this pic was taken.

We eventually got my trailer cleared off and picked it up later that night and hauled it to the new garage where it's been sitting since. I've been seriously thinking of doing some actual work to the car after the first of the year - once I get settled and get my finances squared away. I mean I definitely have the space to work on it now....
