You've already said it..."personal preference". Custom painters may be better these days, but my old running buddies who went for custom paint often had issues with the painter taking artistic license...or, just not seeing their vision (this before the days of home computers, photo shop, CAD and other drawing programs). To that end, if you are after something in particular, draw it out over a photo/line drawing of your particular car. My dad was in the car business....cars with "custom" paint seldom brought as good a price as the ones with the factory paint...unless the "custom" paint amounted to a super sharp, detailed and glossy version of the factory paint. Consider how your car is to be used...daily driver or garaged weekend cruise queen. If your car has a good factory job on it, that is the way to go IMO (especially if a daily driver)...durable, blends in, not a cop magnet and saves enough money for a blower and more.
