I picked up a 1990 5.0l h.o. long block for $150. It's for my 1984 gt 350 4cyl turbo project. I am very excited to do a little rebuild on it, been sitting in a garage for a few years. Ill post pics when I get some time.

I got my head off and measured the bore. I can see some wear on the major thrust surface of the block. I am .005" over. Set my bore gage to "0" at 4.00".

Pistons are still in the block, i could not measure the bottom of the cylinder. This area had the most wear and seemed like the best spot to get an idea of overall wear. The cross hatch is still there and very prominent. It's a little more wear then I like, but it will due for a fun weekend cruiser.

Well I have gotten a lot done on the rebuild of my "deal". The rotating assembly is in and i ordered the trick Flow stage one cam. I am now looking for a timing gear set. What do you all recommend? I have gone with Cloyes in the past. After seeing the discount code for Rock Auto I cannot decide between Melling or Cloyes.

I installed a US made melling oil pump. Cleaned out the pick up and torqued to spec. The original pump was aluminum, that surprised me.
