Progress Thread Deals are still out there.

So I started porting the E7's. I have a couple of hours roughing in the ports. It was going fairly well till I broke through the pushrod guide. I bought the David Vizard book and got youtube certified as a porter (lol). I got greedy. It appears to be fixable. I might just bite the bullet and buy some Flotek bare castings and build them or go AFR bare castings and notch the stock pistons. Trying not to break the bank. GT40p areound here range from $400 on up, not many left in the bone yards.

Started my 5lug conversion. Rebuilt control arms with prothane inserts, QA1 sn95 extended ball joints, and1998 spindles. Amazon brake kit as well. Took a break from porting of the heads.

I got a great deal on bullet springs from a 2004. With the extended ball joint and the weight of the 302, it should be close to a stock ride height with a good ride. For comparison, the factory 1984 4cyl springs. I did reuse the upper isolators from the original springs.

Got a few more things done. Started removing the engine harness and I belive I found the issue relating to how poorly it ran. The connector at the TP sensor had all the wires shorted together. Probably took down vref. Also started rebuilding the 8.8. Good so far.

Very cool build. I just acquired a 302 block and everything else to build a long block. I've cleaned/honed the cylinders and decked the block by hand so far. I'm currently cleaning up a set of forged OEM pistons. Looking forward to seeing your build progress.

I forgot how long it's been since I updated. Well here goes....

I had burned through one set of e7 heads and was working on my second set. The problem i ran into was the valves were bent and took a lot of machining to get true . So I bought a set of flotek heads with the 1.94 valves.

The floteks are 1.94 intake and 1.55 exhaust. 58 cc chambers.

The e7s i over ported and found the water jacket.

The flotek heads are $460 each. I was able to buy one at a time and spread my cost out.

They're pretty much [all] "these chinese heads I hear so much about", anymore.

The castings, at least.
I watched some videos showing the CNC porting and combustion chamber machining added quite a bit of horsepower??? Looks like the more expensive heads are all CNC'd..... ?? Am I reading those videos correctly????
The heads for my Brand X project are not good so I have been looking around....
Been adding up the dollars and its hard to beat some of the crate engines " ready to run" ....
I still remember GM's " targetmaster 350 " chevy engine for $999.... All brand new parts longblock...... Nowadays sticker shock still gets me....

Not to get too off-topic (we can do this elsewhere) but if you're going an LS Restomod, I think Summit has the heads you're looking for. If it's a Chevy small-block, I got nothing.

Appreciate the feedback... No LS for multiple reasons, The 85 corvette parts car I purchased for the C4 suspension for my Restomod frame has a 350 in it I thought about using, but found out the heads on it are the worst SBC heads GM produced and are prone to cracking....
As soon as I can get this parts car taken apart and GONE i will shift back to the mustang and get it finished...
