I have a '99 Cobra. I just purchased it. It has 17 x 9 inch wheels all around. The person I bought it from said they were chrome 2001 wheels. I have one wheel that has a broken lip 4 inches long by 1/3 to 3/4 inch . I had the tire taken off the wheel. It has a 17 x 9 marking. It also has a MADE IN CHINA stamp. The question I have is that the original wheels were 17 x 8. I am wanting to get new wheels. I am wondering what is the disadvantage or advantages to a 17 x 9 vs a 17 x 8 wheel. Do I have to be concerned with anything if i choose the 9 inches wheels? I would like to put original 2001 cobra or 2003 - 2004 gt chrome wheels.

Thanks

Wide rim just allows for wider tire size.

17x9's, you can put 275/40/17's on them.
17x8's, you can run 245/45/17's.

You can slightly change the sizes as well, as I run 255/45/17's on my 2003-2004 GT polished wheels .

BTW, the wheels you are interested in are not chrome. They are polished aluminum, with a plasticized clearcoat overlayed.

These painted or polished used on the 1999-2001 and GT later I believe, are Forged not Cast and 17x8.
