k, i have an 01 GT auto and already have a set of FRPP 4.10s, and really didnt research on em too well before i bought em, but after seeing the vids on this site, i didnt like how the RPMs were very high on regular acceleration...so my question is would i feel a noticable difference from stock gears to 3.73s?...i havent been in a car with gears besides my friends 98 GT 5-speed with 3.73s and it pulled...i dont race, maybe ill make a trip to the track once in a full moon...what im looking for is some passing power/acceleration,you know?...so would my car respond with some 3.73s..i have a buyer for my 4.10s so i really wouldnt be losing money...any feedback is appreciated...Roy

Richmonds arn't bad at all, i have em they're great. Besides ur friends has 3.73's cuz he has a 5-speed which is pretty close to have 4.10's and having an auto due to having overdrive. But the real compromise here is the 3.90's, they're perfectly in between that big gap...but u have to buy motives.

you also need to decide on where you do the majority of your driving. since my car is my DD involving daily hwy use and long trips, i got the 3.73s. If i had another car I would go with 4.10's and 28inch tall slicks. the 3.90 is a good compromise, but it all depends on what you use your car for.

with the right tire in the auto they will be fine.

With anything other than DR's, you won't get much usuable traction on the street nor the track.

I personally wouldn't want to run DR's on the street, unless you live somewhere where there isn't any rain.

Plus, for a track car and 4.10's, I believe that you'll shift into OD before the end of the 1/4, or so I've read many times.

I have 4.10's in my auto and it Revs 3,000 at 75. I think some other factors might change the rpm such as worn down tires etc....! But It depends what your doing with the car! if you want to take this car on trips for longer than 30 minutes don't do the 4.10's get 3.73's and besides the difference in the 1/4 mile between 3.73's and 4.10's is what .1-.2 maybe, it's not a big one. I'll admit the 4.10's are awesome but you'll eat up tires, your mpg will drop 2-3 mpg. I did drop .5 in the 1/4 mile! But If I were to do it all over again I would get 3.90's or 3.7's because I plan on supercharging my car now and with 4.10's on the street it'll be too much power. I can barely get traction now in 1st. Overall 4.10's are badass! you make the call!

not with tall enough tires.

anyhow, 3.73's are the safest bet for someone not sure. it will improve performance hands down and it is a great all around gear.

by the way, i have a blower and 3.73's.

That is correct for street tires. With 4.10s and the auto, I ran out of gear/rpm, about 200' short of the end. It killed my top end/trap speed which hurt my ETs.

And as mentioned before me, it can be corrected with taller tires but I wanted a setup where I can drive to the track, race, drive back home, to work the next day, and on the interstate without having to swap tires everytime.

thanks for the feedback peeps, i already made a deal in trading my 4.10s for some 3.73s...i think ill be happy,my car is a DD,i dont race at the track nor on the street...i just wanna be able to pick up some speed when passing some idiot whos in the fast lane doing 45 in a 55..

so for a daily 3.73s are better because ive heard that 4.10s work with the auto a lot better because of it being such a wide gear and that its only like 1mpg more than 3.73s
