01+ Hood Scoop Install

I just got an 01+ hood scoop for my mustang and I was wondering if anyone has any advice for the install. I've already seen the page on mustang world that goes over the install(http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/scoops.htm). If anyone has any tips, I would appreciate it. Thanks

measure like 8x and make sure the measurements are right
some people used a cardboard template too, that is a good idea
My scoop isn't on properly right now, the left side is a little raised (only at the front). I haven't had time to fix it since it's cold as crap though

If I were to do it again, I'd use either a cardboard template. We put masking tape down on the hood and marked where the bolts touched. Apparently we did something wrong because it doesn't sit totally flush.

what you take the card board and mark the holes on the card board then drill the holes,, i got one 2 i been tryin to figure out the best way to put it on.

Hay all you need to do is make the front two holes (slightly) bigger or use the drill bit to extend the hole towards the middle of the hood. ie... as the front two bolts go down onto the hood they need more room to move towards the middle>< of the hood. It sound kind strange but it works. Dont extend the holes outward or the scoop wont cover them up.

My hood scoop has a buch or studs all around it that hold it down. That mustang world one shows only 2 holes.

You have the factory hood scoop from Ford: it will fit right. The 2 bolts scoops have been known to fly off. All you need is the correct measurements to drill. I never did find a template.
I went to a car lot and measured from the back of the hood to the back of the scoop. Then I punched the scoop bolts through some card board and traced around the cardboard after the bolts went through and the scoop laid flat on the cardboard. Cut out the pattern and tape to your hood. Dont drill too deep or prop you hood open, as to not drill your intake. The two front holes (the angled ones) need more room (towards the center) as they go down onto the hood itself , to seat down all the way;You can see this as you push them down onto your template(cardboard) . Use a slightly bigger brill bit to drill the holes so you can adjust the scoop. If it dosent sit flat up front extend your two front holes towards the center. Or pay a body shop $50 to do it.

And the body shop I called wanted $90 I figured I'd be willing to pay $50 for peace of mind and just a quick easy install but $90 was just too much. So I waited 3 months until I went home to install it.
