01 Mustang Rattling When I Accelerate

Hey there, I have an 01 automatic with 136,000 miles on it. I noticed that my idle has been sort of shaky, but it still idles below 1000 RPM, so for me that is enough. (Previously it used to surge sporadically, so slight shakiness is OK with me.) Anyways, my car rattles when I try to increase my speed past 35-40 MPH. It does not rattle, but sort of ticks any where below that range. It also only ticks when in drive. Any idea? Thanks.

Is it detonation?

Go on yourtube and look at videos and compare.


I'd either suggest a loose cat converter heat shield, or engine detonation

Hi, I no longer hear the sound. So in other words, the sound lasted for just one day. Any idea?

Both causes can come and go. Both reasons are still valid

OK then, let us say it is detonation. What can I do to alleviate this? Perhaps seafoam? Also, I forgot to mention that when I was having the symptoms, I was having an unusual, but seemingly minor vibration in the engine.
