Hey everyone! I recently added refrigerant to my AC, and after doing so, I have noticed that when it idles, a strange grinding sound seems to be coming from the engine. I have done some research which leads me to believe it might be a problem with my compressor clutch or serpentine belt. The noise occurs when the AC is off and usually happens when the car is idling; when I turn on the AC, the noise quiets down and I can hear the compressor kicking on and off. I popped the hood when I heard it last and noticed that the compressor is kicking intermittantly about every 5-10 seconds. Not sure if this is normal, but I'm sure the sound its making is not. Please let me know if you need any additional information; also please forgive my ignorance when it comes to dealing with cars. I don't know a great deal about them but I am trying to learn as much as possible since I like my car and I hate to hear it sound broken. Thanks in advance for your help!!
