'03 cobra 6400k. mi, spun bearing

I believe I have a spun bearing, I am in the process of a complete tear down. the block is about ready to be pulled. I'm looking to go with a d.s.s. short block bbk headers and a ported blower. Possibly a spec clutch. My question is A. how are the bbk headers and B. do I need to run a new clutch, I'm shooting for 520 to 550rwhp.

I'd checkout VT engines alot of people praise them on www.modularfords.com also why not get the stroker kit ?

Thanks for the info, I'm trying to keep it somewhat mild as to not break any other drive train parts

Not sure on what your mods are, but why wouldn't you put the car back to stock and drive it down to the dealer and have them fix it? That's what warranties are for right?

Unless it's too far past being stock...

did my own install on the bbk, perfect fit no problems easy install clean the threads on the heads other wise they dont start nice as for the clutch if you got the cash why not upgrade dont know factory holding power

While this is a good idea, I now know why FORD denies warranty claims as much as possible.

Back on topic, any reason why the bearing spun? Normal driving and it let go? Racing it hard when you felt soemthing wasnt right? Just curious.

As far as warr. work I've got a Diablo chip, pully, catless exhaust, 10" wheels w/ bfg drags and a few other things, the inspector would have a field day with me.

The spun bearing deal I believe was from running 155-160 down a strech of road because the very next day it started acting up, ticking smokeing and what not. I took it to a dealership thinking it was the head and they told me it was the lower end of the #2 cyl. so I just went and picked it up. They were wanting to do a full teardown without knowing if my warr. was any good, I wasn't going for that so I pulled it apart myself. I don't have the block out yet but it should be out by this evening. Then I'll know exactly what I'm up against.

Well, if he just had exhaust and a CAI or simple boltons like that, why not take it back to the dealer after putting the stock pieces back on since those parts aren't most likely going to cause a spun bearing...but since he has a chip and a pulley those things are things that would cause the warranty to be voided...hence why I said "I'm not sure what your mods are"...

missouri- I wasnt dissin what you said, hell I guess I would be lookng at doing the same if I were in his shoes. I just understand that this does happen. If I were Ford I would scrutinize every warant claim that came in on these cars just because of that sort of thing. In turn thats what hurts us all. Especially people who get warranties denied due to tire wear or rubber in the wheel wells, or god forbid a cat-back or CAI.

Strobel. I have read of oil starvation problems in these cars at sustained high sped. I guess a high volume oil pan would be in order for high speed runs of more than a few seconds.

I just got the motor apart today and come to find out my ticking was do to a piston that got out of wack and was slapping the side wall, itwas the #2 cyl. Has anyone heard of the #2 cyl. having problems?
