Long story short I threw a rod in my 67 coupe(289), found a great deal on a 4.6L V8 and Id love to make it work. Ive heard both sides of this... one saying I need to cut out my shock towers and the other saying it will fit without cutting anything.

So my question to you guys, haha, will it fit without cutting the towers and what all will in need to make it work besides the wiring harness? My car has a 3 speed auto(C4)

The payoff simply isn't worth it unless your getting a motor in really good shape for nearly free. Even then it's iffy.

The only reason for this swap is "to be different" but it's been done many times now already so you wouldn't even be all that different...

I'm putting a 4.6 dohc in my 67 coupe. I'm using the complete drivetrain from a 2003 Cobra. The DOHC is wider than the 2V but they are both very wide. I wouldn't do this swap again. If I had used a 351 based stroker it would cost less and I would probably have the car finished by now.
