Alrighty guys. Some of you may know me as the annoying dude who wanted to drop a 5.0 in his 98 GT. I took your advice and passed up on it. Now I am coming across an engine worth swapping.

I recently found for sale an 04 cobra engine with 27K miles. Now, along with the questions.

This should drop right in right? Pretty much the same block and same platform?

Will my T-45 bolt up to it and how many more hours will it last behind that engine?

Should I get the wiring harness and everything? Will regular GT manifolds fit on it? Or would 96-98 cobra headers be the way to go?

What else should I know before I do this?

And how much is a good price for a running 27K mile 04 cobra engine w/ the blower.

get everything you can from that other donor car, definitely wiring harnesses , computer. Get all the accessories. the more parts you have the less worries you will have later when you need to know they work or not. headers from the gt wont work either get the stockers or some LT's. Dont know about the transmission. I dont think it will work but it might.

You sure that the 04 cobra exhaust parts will work? He probably has headers. But what I was thinkin is that 96-98 cobra parts should work because its the same body and same engine basically.

I found a low mile Cobra engine for $4k that I think will come with most engine parts less the exhaust but I will find out today. The timing cover is cracked because it was in an accident but the dude said the engine runs.

The t-45 should bolt up behind it but if not does anyone know where to find cheap t56's?

I'm assuming the timing chain cover is cracked it probably doesn't have a radiator but maybe it does. I guess I should get an aftermarket one anyway. Did the 04 cobras come stock with intercoolers?

D&D Kit since you'll need a couple of other bits if you swap to a t56.

What I was asking was could I put a t-45 behind it (assuming the 04 cobra already had a t56).

What about the electronics? Will I have to get the car tuned? What about the computer chip in the keys, how does that work?

The flywheel sizes are different, so at least the clutch ect. would need to be changed, at the least.

I can do the clutch.

Bad news I guess the car was totalled and the computer and wiring harness is done. Is there any logical way around this or should I just keep looking?

If you are getting a good deal on it i'd still buy it even without the wiring harness. get the computer and heat exchanger while your at it. just be patient you will find a harness sooner or later on ebay.

Well dude is wanting $4k for it w/o no computer or harness but he might throw in cobra brakes and maybe headers in the deal. Is it worth it?

Can anyone confirm my t-45 will work w/ a new clutch setup?

How much do wiring harnesses go for these days, and what about the heat exchanger? Don't mean to be annoying but obviously I like to hear a second opinion when looking at buying a $4k piece.

Your going to need either 03-04 Cobra/mach stock manifolds or headers because the 96-98 Cobra engine has totally different heads & the exhaust ports are different.

He has the exhaust system, but will everything bolt up to my car? Did any mounts change from 96-98 to 04? I don't want to get this engine and learn I have to get a new k-member or something stupid.

The engine will bolt up fine. U will need to use a midpipe from a 96-98 though because the exhaust hangers changed I think?? I might be wrong, but I know the motor will bolt right in, just not sure after the headers what will or wont fit....

If the cobra exhaust itself will bolt right up to my midpipe then I'm set because I already have that. I'd like to go longtubes and no cats while the motor is out but I will have already broke the bank by that time.

I went and looked at the engine today. The car is completely totalled but the engine looks fine other than the timing cover is cracked, the head cover has a small dent/hole in it, and the Throttle body is chipped. I guess the engine has

NO MAF
NO Computer
NO Wiring harness
NO Radiator and coolers

basically its just the engine and blower, no more no less. How much do you think its worth? How much will it cost me to do the swap?

Yeah I'm sorry about this guy and really I don't have too much respect for someone who likes Kanye West anyway. His story is fishy as hell.

Back on topic, does anyone know where I can look for someone who has done a swap similar to this?
