looking at a car for sale. recently had these cams installed. he said it drove fine for 2 or 3 months then just lost power i know there are ptv issues with these cams but from the story he tells that doesnt make any sense. it may not even be th cams just curious if this has happened to anyone thanks in advance

Who did the work, were the cams degreed, any codes being thrown. Sounds like the guy either doesn't know whats wrong but doesn't want to put any more money into it, or he knows exactly and is just giving the buyer a story to get it sold and off his plate. If you decide to even look at it get it checked out by a repubtable shop with a fine tooth comb.
 
It may seem like an "easy fix" but I would let this one go. Fixing someone else's mess is always much more expensive than you realize. Go find a different car. :nice:
 
Bent valves (causing them to not seat) or holes punched into the pistons wouldn't be unlikely if the cams were improperly installed. The engine has probably lost a lot of compression.
