Hope I do not get shot over this one. But......am I the only one that thinks an 05 mustang dash would look right at home in a 67? I did a quick measurement a few months back and I think the 05 was around 2-3" wider between the pillars. I honestly feel that that is the best dash ford has ever came out with. It's only a matter of time before someone tries it.

That I do not know. Doubt it would be easy. The electronics and so forth, to me, would be the most challenging. I wonder how compatible a painless harness would be for this application.

It can be done man. anything can with the right amount of time and or $$$

Im SURE you could take either a 1.5" off each side, or do it in the middle, you would lose the space in the middle of the dash where the electronics currently go, but **** it, put some gauges in it, and mount the radio and other controlls somewhere else.

What an interesting Idea.

I looked at a 95 cobra this weekend and was wishing I could take the dash from it because the rest of the car was hosed.

Cutting the dash in the middle would be some kind of a major pain to get it looking right again. The ends would be hard enough but more do able.A 94-04 dash looks like to me woulds almost bolt in.

I posted the same idea on here about a year or so ago, and everyone said the same thing then. I agree, it would be pretty cool to do this swap, but a real pain when it comes to making it fit.

good luck pulling 3" out of the dash...thats the hardest part. You have to cut it, blend the cuts, redo the plastic or vinyl, repaint it...thats the hard part. As for the harness, you are better off using the 05 harness and omitting 90% of the cirucits that you dont need.

Maybe not worth it. Your probably right about using the 05 harness.

I doubt anyone is even going to attempt it. THe dash is to expensive to play with unless you are getting a wrecked car.

Regarding the SN65 project, that wasn't an SN95 interior put in a classic, but rather, a 65 body stretched over a complete SN95 car.
I'm a big fan of the SN95 dash in a classic.
Here's the finest example that I've found, in a 69.

Just keep in mind the original dash is part of the structure of the unibody. Any new one going in will take a lot of thought to keep everything rigid.

that's a very good point.
the original dash structure was welded in.
the sn95s are a bolt in and i guess those cars get their structure through a beefier cowl/firewall.

in pursuit of this idea, i've acquired an SN95 dash. i also have a couple of buddies with a 67 and a 70 that have their dashes out at the moment, down to the dash structure.
i don't have alot of time to devote to this project right now, but if anybody is interested in trying to take this further, i could provide some pics or measurements (tape measure accuracy, lol).

I almost put one in my 69...the 95-04 dash is about 1/2" to wide but that can be made up by cutting the lip off each end. The hard part is cutting the radius at the windsheild and making it look good.

I'm thinking I may go with a clean and simple dash that will match the street rod look of the exterior. Something like this would be nice, that is if I can pull it off. I have always loved sheetmetal look. I know, it is a little hard to imagine in a mustang. I still have not ruled out the 05 though.
