I don't have much to complain about of my '05 GT, but the defroster is definitely one of them. The air flow coming out of the dash vents seems limited at best. Dealer says it is fine, fog on windows forever says it is not. I checked an '06 and it appears to have better air flow. Anyone else notice this?
Another issue is cabin fresh air. Since the vents are under the windshield end of the hood and behind the engine, getting cool air through there is not happening when it is warm outside. Sometimes you just don't need the A/C and with gas prices, conservation is best. Most of the time in WA state, all you need is outside air instead of A/C.
Haven't seen any service bulletins on these.

I would not say that is normal. I to have a 05 GT and my defrost work great. There seems to be plenty of air coming out of my defrost.

What month/yr was your car manufactured?

Very early cars had problems with the heater/AC air flow.
My car was produced in December 04, and air can not be directed to the floor. Only the front vents or the defrosters work properly.

Ford is aware of my problem, but does not intend to fix it.
Truth is they do not know how And too few cars have the problem to issue a TSB. So a few of us get screwed.

Hope your story has a happier ending.

I have a 05 as well air cannot be directed to the floor only or just to the defrost. I carried it in a couple of times when I first got it all I would get from Ford is there is no fix as of yet and that was a 1-1/2 years ago. I guess I have learned to live with it because I only drive it on nice and dry weekends.
