I've an 05 convertible GT w. inter. upgrade/armrest/padding, but I just can't adjust the seat/wheel position to a point where I can put my left and right hands around the L+R/2+10 o' clock positions. I can manage resting my left hand to reach if my elbow rests on the uppermost door panel-next to the window-but this becomes rubby and tiresome. My right hand won't make it north of 4 o'clock unless I keep my arm/elbow about 3 in. above the center armrest.
Is there anyone who can easily fabricate a black covered surface for the stock door arm rest to build it up about 4 inches, and put a secondary top/lid/stowage lip opening on top of the existing center armrest. I will assume I'll have to go to a custom installer in my area (Boston, MA) if there are no replies...pls. e-mail, but I'm not much of a competent d.i.y installer.
FWIW, I had hand surgeries for carpal tunnel, which makes me sensitive to repetitive arm motions, but the door/wheel/seat positioning has got to be the worst design I've found of the 10 or so cars I've ever owned. Of course, the best was the old Range Rover, with drop down leather arm rests on both sides of the seat, but there was, of course, way more room to get in/out of that vehicle!!
