Ok I am not sure about this. My friend today told me that the 05 will be coming at the end of march. I haven't got a chace to talk to him about it yet. But his uncle does work at a ford dealer and this friend is very trustworthy. So has anyone heard this too? I will let you all know more about this when I talk to him tomorrow I hope.

have a good point...

Ford might be playing the nostalgia card to the hilt...they got the stylng like 60's and since the first one rolled off as a 64-1/2, I won't be surpsied if they do the same now, i.e roll 'em off as 04-1/2 (middle of this year).

1995Cobra - I believe they stopped making the Fox car back in 1993. :) In any event flexia, a good faith deposit at your local dealer will assure you have a shot at the first ones that get there - whenever that turns out to be.

No...the fox chassis has been used since the late 70s onward...its the fox platform not the fox body he was referring to.

I will be going down to a dealer friday to see whats the latest scope is. And we also have the Clevland auto show this weekend so I wil be doing some asking up there. And I do agree with Sean about the 04 1/2. It seems feasible that they could do this. This is the one new car that it seems like every body wants to get there hands on. It apeals to the people from the 60's with the fastback style and with the younger ones today. So ford might take the demand into consideration. But I guess we will just have to wait and see.

The Fox Mustang came to be in 1979 replacing the 74-78 Mustang 11. It was based on the Fairmont platform. That same basic platform is still used although they did make some changes with the SN95 in 1994. Take a look under the '04; it is very much the same set-up as a 1979. The new S197 is completely different.

1st gen=65-73
2nd gen=74-78
3rd gen=79-04
4th gen=05-??

I just wish I'd kept some (or all?) of the ones I sold. :bang:

Job 1 is 9-7-04. That is the day the plant will start making the cars.

The assembly lines are still making the Fox car. They will need to stop production, install the new tooling, etc. before they start the S197.

Just to clarify, the S197 is being built at a different plant so production does not have to stop on the Fox car for the S197's tooling to be installed.

Fox is being built at the Dearborn Rouge plant, S197 will be built at the Flat Rock AAI plant along with the Mazda6. Once the Fox is done they will be re-tooling that plant for F-150 production starting on the 20th of September.

Regardless, the Job1 date for the S197 at the Flat Rock plant is scheduled for September 7th as mentioned above. We probably won't see one on a dealer lot until Early October. Late September if we're lucky and the plant lot quality inspections go without a hitch.
