AWESOME!! Thanks 65fastback. I've been hoping there was some way to make these work. These are the wheels that will be going on...just to make sure, these should be compatible with spacing, etc. right?? thanks again for the link!
You might double check on actual backspacing of those wheels. According to the eBay ad, they have 39mm offset, which is approx. 1.5", which means they should have something like 5" backspacing. You may be able to get away with much much much smaller spacers (like .25").

Now that I think about it, those wheels are 7" wide by 16" diameter, and therefor doesn't have the same backspacing as the larger 8" wide 17" diameter wheels most folks use. Do your measuring and get exact specs on the wheels before buying...

Hope this helps...

Let me just make sure I'm doing this right...do I measure the backspacing of the new wheels and subtract the backspacing of the current wheels to find the width of the adapters I need...if so, it looks like I'd need about a 2" adapter. I was hoping it'd be smaller than that. Is this right??

Could be..but just because that's the backspacing your previous wheels had, doesn't mean that's the backspacing that your new wheels will need.

Best bet is to try some test fitting.

The only proper way to know what backspacing your car needs (and therefor how thick the adapter needs to be) is to do the proper measuring procedure and not to compare the wheels. It's not complicated, but it is complex. There have been numerous articles written on measuring for wheel backspacing over the years, like this article from Car Craft: http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/3636/

Good luck.

I just got in touch with the tire store and they're gonna take a look at the wheels under my car before they help me decide on adapter size and eventually tread width. Thanks for all the advice guys...by the way DarkBuddha, what's the difference between complicated and complex???? Thanks, though that's an awesome article for anybody putting on wheels and tires.

That's always a good question as semantics can be tough. But for me, "complexity" suggests that something has multiple facets that are all connected and related, while "complicated" implies a sense of unnecessary severity and difficulty, but may or may not be complex in nature.

I've wanted to do it since they first came out, so I guess I'll be the guinea pig. Once I get everything to fit I'll post some info on adapter size, tread size, etc. I'll try to get some pics if I can figure out how to put them in my threads. Thanks for all the help guys.

Here they are on a '70 Mach. We used 1" adapters and the stock tires and it looks great!
